Online Offers - Booking by phone only?

Just a quick question about the gold/platinum elite free weekend night coupons - the coupon states that one must call the rewards number to specify that the reservation is being made with a coupon. Has anyone had any luck with making a reservation online and just turning in a coupon at arrival? It seems like a waste of time to make the reservation by phone, both to myself and the agent, when online is so easy.

Yes, and I've never had a problem.

I used to call for my EEO reservations, which is a pain since I make all my other ones via marriott.com. Then I started making the reservation online and calling the number to ask them to add the EEO notation. One time I saw what the notation was in the Marriott system, so now in the comments field of my online reservations I simply type "EEO cert for 2nd nt. free. Req upgrd pls."

I usually book EEO reservations online and send an e-mail through contact us. They take care of adding the note about EEO and get back to me within a day. God forbid I should have to talk to someone! (Said sarcastically...I think it's funny how I/we try to avoid interaction with people sometimes.)

Ok...just felt like whining again. Always seems when I could actually use the EEO certificates for leisure, they aren't available! Oh well.

The antithesis of my experience.

Those like me that went from Gold to Platinum, or others that went from Silver to Gold, did not receive coupons because we did not receive a renewal package. Some of us did call in and were sent coupons. Received with renewal letters mid-February with April 30 expiration.

Spring 05: Were available on-line March 29; Coupons expired June 15.

Summer 05: Were available on-line June 12; Coupons expired September 15.

Fall 05: Were available on-line November 8; Coupons expired January 30.

Winter/Spring 06: Guessing they were available on-line sometime in February (I could not find a post stating the exact date); Coupons expired April 30.

Summer 06: Were available on-line May 18; Coupons expired August 28.

Now it is time to start inquirying about EEO status IMO. Chris, if you are out there, can you give us some feedback as to when to expect EEO availability. TIA

Hello everyone:

Barring any last minute revisions, the EEO's should be available online this Monday, October 23rd, and the majority of offers will be valid through January.

I am a little lost. There EEO free weekend nights you are talking about. I am Marriott Gold and I have seen nothing about this in snail mail email or online. What am I missing and how to I get involved???

SanDiego1K Oct 19, 2006 1:45 pm

flyinghome, Marriott will put the certs on the website. When you log in, you will be able to down load them.

You should also receive them by mail, but the mail lags the website going live with them.

I have a menu like this:

Platinum Offers >>

Save 20-30% at participating Marriott Vacation ClubSM International Resorts >>

View all Platinum offers >>

View all offers >>

You'll have one that says gold - but I believe that the booklet of coupons, whether online or paper, are identical for platinum and gold.

What's an EEO?

Excuse my ignorance, but as a very newly minted Marriott Gold, what does EEO stand for? Based on what I've read so far in this thread I'm intrigued and wondering special offers might be coming.

Elite Exclusive Offers (EEO) are quasi-quarterly coupons Marriott sends out to their Gold/Platinum elites. To see what the last quarter coupons were, just turn back to page 9 of this very thread (see posts 125 and 126).

Thanks hhoope01! I'll be looking forward to seeing this quarter's offers.
