Courtyard Austin downtown- I used code LPR and got a $99 rate for 3/4/12. It was also available for Saturday but I got a LNF rate for that night at Residence inn Austin downtown. It seems both hotels are in the same building so I booked 1 night in each to receive more points. Will that work?

Thanks!

Welcome to FT, houstonmama.

If they are two separately branded hotels, then it doesn't matter if they share a building, those will definitely count as separate stays (which you want).

There are many cases of multiple hotels in the same building. Think of it as the hotel version of townhouses. Townhouses are all connected together, as if all are part of the same building, but each has a separate address, separate residents, separate lease, maybe even separate owners.

You won't get more points per se, but if you can register for the MegaBonus promotion which gives you a free night certificate for every two separate stays, then you'll get a free night certificate (good through most of the summer, at category 1-4 hotels) by staying at two different hotels on different nights, whereas you wouldn't get that free night by staying at the same hotel for both nights. So you will get more, just not necessarily in points.

To see if you can register for that MegaBonus, log in at Marriott.com and go to your Promotion Central (it may say "see all promotions" or something like that).

Much more information on the MegaBonus promotion is available in this thread:

Not only Marriott, but most of the hotels in Moscow could make all of us bankrupt. Lol :D

I don't understand. Only paying in money is going to make you go bankrupt in Moscow!

But isn't that exactly the kind of situation in which to use points (or free-night certs) if you have them???

Of the 8 hotels in Moscow, 7 (ie, with the obvious exception of the Rtiz) are between 15k and 25k a night. ladyfirst, I'm not sure which Courtyard you're talking about, because are two, but one is 15k and the other 25k a night.

(Those seem to me like great redemption values, given the cash prices of the same hotels.)

Furthmore, the 15k and 20k properties are cat 3 and 4 respectively, so would work with the cat 1-4 free night certs you earn (up to 2 of) with the current MegaBonus promo for just 2 paid nights (in a cheap suburban Fairfield, if you wish) here in the US. The 25k properties are cat 5, so wouldn't work with those free night certs, but would work (for one night) with the cat 1-5 free night cert that's deposited in your account within days of applying for the Premier card with the 70k bonus points offer:

Given ladyfirst's listing of airport codes for location, I'm guessing the Premier Visa ain't gonna happen and I would also guess that there probalby ain't too many FFIs close by for mattress runs either.

But I do agree that Moscow does look like a very good place to use points (if you have them) over paying cash/credit cards for a stay.

The appropriate voucher. If you don't have it, then you won't be able to get that rate.

Cheers.

I hope someone can help me on this one:
My husband is a government employee (with appropriate ID).
I want to book a hotel with his Government rate BUT
on this trip (2 nights) he will NOT be with me and my daughter.
I obviously need to book the room in my name in order to check in.
If I took his ID with me, and they asked to see a Government ID, do you think they would accept it (if I explained that it is my husband) or bump me to rack rate which is double the price?
Thank you in advance for any help! I am new at this!

seriously, what do you think? Do you think if you did this with an airline ticket they would let you board? If you had a car rental they would give you a car?

I think you know the answer, however if you are looking for a way to do this even though you know its not legit, then here is what you could do

book it in his name, add yours, bring his ID and say he's coming and pray like he11 that they don't recalculate the rate if he never comes down stairs to show them he's really there. I still say even that work around has a 50/50 chance at best to work.

Thanks for the reply. I won't be doing this! Don't want to get caught up in something that is shady when my daughter is with me. I didn't know If he could book it in advance and fax his ID and I check in or something. Will just have to use another legit code this time around. Thanks again! :)
