The first post in this very thread has all the public codes that I know of listed. All you need to do is try them out and see, if any of them work for you.

See the post right above yours? Yeah, that one - #690. It applies to you too. ;)

hhoope1, do you think we can turn this into an auto-repeating post...that occurs perhaps every 5 to 10?

The following post (from the previous page) is also meant for you:

If you've already tried the codes in post 1 and none of them worked for you, then asking for a code here is not likely to produce any other codes, since they're already listed and compiled as they're found.

What you should look into, instead, is LNF (Marriott's Best Rate Guarantee). It's generally the best option for lowering the rate when you can't find codes (in post 1 of this thread) that work. See this thread first for basic info about LNF:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...f-newbies.html

and then try any third-party sites you know. If you can't find an LNF-qualifying rate at the third-party sties you know, then post a request in this thread:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...-lnf-rate.html

(But pleast try searching some third-party sites yourself first, since you may not always get a reply to a request you place in the above thread.)

I did look through ALL pg1 codes. Will be using only MR points & MR free night voucher -- was seeking code to reduce number of points needed or to add unexpected perks. (Mexico City Reforma)

Do codes work when using MR points to pay?
(read several pages back & found no one else addressed issue)

Hey, as a novice, any tip from expert appreciated!

Hey, as a novice, any tip from expert appreciated!

Presumably you've gotten the 'unexpected perks' by doing the Gold challenge (referencing the thread you started in the main forum asking for input on negotiating free internet. Gold Challenge gives you free internet, access to the exec lounge & a room upgrade). I doubt you'll be able to do better than that.

You might check to see if the Reforma is one of the current points saver properties, but I think that's the only way you'll be able to reduce the points. But if you did sign up for the Gold challenge, you're getting enough perks to make the points required a bit more palatable.

Publicly available codes are usually just for paid stays AFAIK.

Cheers.

Thanks for response!

Will request Gold/Platinum Challenge just before my Mexico City departure.

Will also input some of this threads page 1 codes to see if they affect "using MR points to pay" amounts, etc.

Sidebar: have been told by MR Cust. Serv. that points plus voucher reservations can only be done by phone; have also been told that only points can be gifted, not bonus sign up free night voucher. (person with name on voucher must be the person checking in)

As one reservation, yes. However, you can make a reservation using points online, and you can make a reseravation using a free night cert (I presume that's what you mean by a voucher?) online, and you can make them for adjacent periods of time at the same hotel, and that's almost the same thing. (In fact, that's how they may end up doing it over the phone, too!) The trick is to then add a note to the hotel explaining that you have two separate reservations, and that step may need to be done over the phone.

Thanks for info.
What is advantage of adjacent reservations?
Will single total reservation not accept public code vs. two total reservations will accept public code? Other advantage? None?

If you are PAYING for your room then you can use publicly available codes on a single or multiple reservation to reduce the paid rate or get some bennie associated w/ the code.

If you are on an AWARD or FREE CERT stay, the publicly available codes won't work.

Publicly available codes do not reduce # of points needed for award stays; properties that are on the points saver list will, but that's only if the property you're staying at is on the list. If it's not, then the # of points needed per night match the category.

The advantage of adjacent reservations is simply that they can be made online with no intervention by the agent, but that's about it.

Cheers.
