Maybe this thread should be split into one showing the codes available and another asking someone to search for specific codes. Travel is daunting enough and I can understand someone not knowing how to research for all the different discounts out there, but cluttering an informational thread with help requests makes it more difficult to find helpful data. Not to mention adding the snide replies that really don't help anyone.

There IS another thread where people can ask for help, it is located here: flyertalk.com/forum/marriott-rewards/789113-place-your-request-finding-lnf-rate.html. It is at least 5 years old, and is quite easy to locate. The details of how to ask for help are spelled out quite clearly.
In THIS thread the importance of searching for yourself has been explained thoroughly and frequently...and as recently as Aug 16th. Which even the briefest of reads will reveal, as it still appears on the first page of the thread and does not require any search skills. You are correct - it is understandable that a new traveler may not know how to do it, but they should make an attempt to read the informational thread before posting a request. So I cannot agree with the use of "snide". Impatience perhaps... |

So I think for any one particular hotel, if you're only looking for one, chances are more likely than not that no codes will work. The more hotels in an area you're looking at, the more chance that some code will work at maybe at least one of those hotels. Have you looked into LNF? Have you considered using points? Have you considered other hotels that are a better value (on either money or points), in either the Marriott program and/or other programs (that you have points in or can move points into)? That's my typical solution when faced with a $285++ room at my first choice hotel. (I just don't spend that much time in my hotel room, it's not worth paying that much on my own dime in a city where there are plenty of choices.) |
