Can anyone PM me any special codes for NYC?
I need to book 2 rooms in NYC, 2 in one room and 3 in the other room(all adults). I am Gold. How will the Lounge Access or breakfast work for my other 3 guests? What is the best option and hotel in NYC for us?

The code SOWK doesn't seem to work. Called Gold line to ask about the code but the CSR was trying and trying but the code seems to be invalid.

Do you work for WN? You'll need to contact their travel department to locate the hotels in their corporate travel program for 2011.

It is listed on the bottom of the list on the first post of this thread.

It was still valid and supposedly a public code as of last year when Marriott Concierge went through the list, but I guess things could have changed.

my mistake..it IS a public rate (just double checked it, the way I looked at it it's very easy to miss)...what you have is a "rate program" ....the 3 digit code you are looking for is "SW8" which is the code for Southwest Airlines Promotions

They asked me where I found the code and I didn't want to tell them it's from here so I said various sites.

HEY everyone!!! Im a longtime flyertalk lurker and finally decided to register because im stumped!

this forum has helped me save at least over $500 so far but now i am stumped.

been browsing for promo code to every travel website but none seem to work marriott chain hotels.

long story short, in May i'm getting married and were going to spend a week in New York as a stop on our honeymoon!

we've decided we want to stay at the marriott marquis, mainly because of the location...

im wondering if anyone has any idea how i can get a promo code to work for this place! NOTHING works.. :( we're looking at about ~$2000 to stay there, so any discount would be great.

I tried AAA but there is no discount, anyone know of anything else that might work??

thanks so much! looking forward to being on this forum!

Hawkster, at the top of this forum is a sticky marked "publicallly available rates and codes" If you try all of those you might get lucky. But May in NY? At the Marquis? Tough to get.

However, those codes could help with another property, so you should try them....maybe you will find a hotel you will be just as happy with.

Good Luck.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

My family and I also like the Marquis on Times Square as well. It is a good hotel with a great location (assuming you like Times Square of course.) With that said, Sophiegirl is correct, there may not be a lot of options to lower your rate there. If you haven't yet, go through the list of codes in the first post of this thread and see if any work.

If one or more works and gets the price down for you then great, go with it. If none do, I might suggest searching through this forum for some existing NYC hotel threads. There are a few that may help you find another hotel that may have a cheaper rate and will have a good location as well.

Here are some good starting points for NYC hotels:

Subcontractor/partner using customer rate codes?

What's the official position on using customer rate codes?

For instance, if I'm visiting SAP in Palo Alto, is it appropriate for me to plug in the correct SAP code and take the SAP discount? I am indeed doing work for SAP and visiting their local office.

When I've done this in the past, I've been offered directions to the office, but have never been asked for either a business card or corporate ID.

Thanks,

Lee

I think it depends on the hotel and the rate itself. I do believe that sometimes the rate is supposed to be for employees only, no contractors. Other hotels may have a negociated rate that includes contractors.

Your best bet is to contact the hotel and ask. That is what I do. I used to work as vendor for Continental airlines down in Miramar, FL. The Harbor Beach Marriott would let me use the Travel Industry rate to stay there. And back then they had a very nice discount on that rate. The only thing they asked was that I get a signed letter on company letterhead stating that I was doing work for them that week. But I always checked with the hotel beforehand to verify that that was acceptable. I have asked other hotels the same thing and they didn't want to let me use the Travel Industry rate if I wasn't a Travel Agent. So it depends on the hotel.
