Westin vs Sheraton
Hello all-
We have been at the Westin previously and loved our stay. We are platinum members staying for 5 nights at the end of January 2014. Any updates on the construction at the Westin? We are contemplating staying at the Sheraton -- does one tend to have better upgrades than the other?
Any advice would be great!

Neither. They are both average at best, and their properties are old and run down.
If this is something you do regularly then go for it, its cheap digs. If going to Hawaii is a one of for you, I'd look elsewhere.
Its wasteful to spend all your time and money to do something average.
Have a brilliant trip. Do Fairmont or Four Seasons.. or perhaps even home away. We rented a great house in Lahina last time for less than a room at Westin. Private pool and 5 minutes to the beach.

I'm not a fan of either property, but... choose the Sheraton if you want to be close to Black Rock and a larger beach area. It's quieter. The hotel just doesn't have many amenities.
The Westin has a huge pool complex and Whaler's Village next door. It's very convenient if you want stuff to do. But I don't think the beach right out in front is as good due to the crowds.
Again, both properties are lacking when it comes to rooms, restaurants, service, etc. The choice here is between locations only.
