Westin vs Sheraton

Hello all-

We have been at the Westin previously and loved our stay. We are platinum members staying for 5 nights at the end of January 2014. Any updates on the construction at the Westin? We are contemplating staying at the Sheraton -- does one tend to have better upgrades than the other?

Any advice would be great!

Which Starwood in Maui?

Any preference between Westin Maui Resort or Sheraton Maui Resort?

Thanks.

Neither. They are both average at best, and their properties are old and run down.
If this is something you do regularly then go for it, its cheap digs. If going to Hawaii is a one of for you, I'd look elsewhere.

Its wasteful to spend all your time and money to do something average.

Have a brilliant trip. Do Fairmont or Four Seasons.. or perhaps even home away. We rented a great house in Lahina last time for less than a room at Westin. Private pool and 5 minutes to the beach.

Thanks. Without making me read 25 pages (from the other thread) can you give me an idea on upgrades as a Platinum?

I'm not a fan of either property, but... choose the Sheraton if you want to be close to Black Rock and a larger beach area. It's quieter. The hotel just doesn't have many amenities.

The Westin has a huge pool complex and Whaler's Village next door. It's very convenient if you want stuff to do. But I don't think the beach right out in front is as good due to the crowds.

Again, both properties are lacking when it comes to rooms, restaurants, service, etc. The choice here is between locations only.

Thanks for the thoughts. It's just a quick 5 night stay to unwind. Certainly not a trip of a lifetime. I've been before. I do not want to spend any money so points it is.

Thanks for the info. Any idea how much of a walk it is from the Sheraton to the Westin?

I've stayed at both and would recommend the Sheraton. It's about a 15 minute walk between the two.
