I think it depends If it is a special occasion and you would be able to enjoy the resort (i.e. travelling without small children), then I would consider St. Regis. Just have in mind that sea plane transfer to St. Regis is almost double the price of Le Meridien. Plus at St. Regis you should try to book Beach Villa or Over Water Villa in order not to be stuck in their base Garden Villa (it is in the middle of the island without any views). I think Le Meridien remains a very good deal. Plus they seem to make effort into upgrading status customers into better villas, once they open send pier with OWVs there will be even higher chance to score an upgrade there.

I've not looked closely at onsite cost comparisons, but imagine you would also pay more for most food, drink, activites, etc. at StR too so take that into consideration along with the points difference.

That would be my first thought as well. I don't know if the StR offers meal plans either. For only a 100k point difference I think that is a steal room wise for the StR. For our dates it was more than twice as many points as the LM so it wasn't an option.

With that little of a point difference I would definitely research the seaplane, food, and activities cost to see how much more that would increase the overall cost. I would also research the house reef quality if that is important.

Seems like other resorts like to ask for advance payment for seaplane as well. I guess since they front the payment to the third party, they would like to get it from you ahead of time, too. A polite "I'd prefer to settle this at checkout" is typically followed by "Ok, as you wish".

YMMV, but it's definitely not a suspicious practice, just an unfortunate one.

Here you go, fresh from the front desk this morning: gdrive link. I asked specifically for a link that they hosted but they said they only had the pdf to send so I just re-hosted it on gdrive.

I'm here now if anyone has any questions about anything.

Yeah, about 3 weeks before arrival. I didn't really care though as it was confirmed awhile back that the advance payment link still codes as Marriott when used with a Marriott cc. I don't see why anyone is making a huge fuss about this unless you have thousands in gift cards to use that exceed all the other fees.

I am on the new pier along with a handful of other guests right now. There's still some (not noisy) work being done on some of the adjacent bungalows though so they aren't all open yet.

How's the current and snorkeling on that side?

Or do you have to start on the other pier?
