Is it not until you have paid the bill? when the statement closes? or within a few days of reaching the threshold?
For my bonus, I was surprised that it posted within a few days of reaching the $5,000 threshold and not after I paid the bill. That has been my experience for both Amex co-branded hotel cards that I have, you receive the bonus almost immediately after reaching the bonus spend target and before you even make a payment on the bill.

Nice DP, but what do you mean by almost full refund? Shouldn't it full refund within a month/30 days?

Platinum Status

I received my Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant AmEx a few weeks ago. When does Platinum status kick in?

Refund was about $420, AF is $450. I called exactly 30 days after AF posted.

FWIW the "offer & benefit terms" link on the AMEX site says: "Platinum Elite status will be effective from 2/1/2021 until 1/31/2022." Dunno if this is like earning status normally, where they will give you the remainder of this year also.

Thank you for the response. I was hoping 02/01/21 would be the case as we have an eight night stay at the St Regis Maldives in February.

Nice, good to know the 30 day threshold can trigger the cert, as I didn't get it for day 29 cancellation (on Bonvoy biz however).

Can but there's no guarantee that it will. 30 days never did anything for me.

FWIW note mine was a downgrade from the Brilliant to the $95 Amex Bonvoy card, not a cancellation.

I thought you had to spend 75K+ to get plat status?

Normally, yes, but there is a promo going on right now for new card applications: Marriott giving away Platinum status with AMEX credit card sign-up

Can anyone confirm if physial/egift cards still trigger the $300 statement credit or not?

My understanding is gift cards purchased at a marriott property will trigger a credit. Gift cards bought online are sold via third party.
