Data point: I called the UK number to convert my OC6 (870T) to a NC6 (QP99). Asked the rep if she can do that. She said yes and put me on hold, but when she came back she had converted it to a NC4 (QP83). I asked if it was not possible to convert to QP99, so she checked with her "US-based supervisor" and confirmed they cannot. No 30k points added to my account yet. Are there any datapoints of upgrades from a NC4 to a NC6?

I upgraded a OC 7 to NC 6 for 7nts. Difference was 90k points.

P950 to QP91
I just received this email saying my old P950 (cat 1-8) converts to QP91 (cat1-5)? Also my other certs just say Category 9 7 nights. What P category would that be. Thanks.
" Your travel package hotel week, reward code P950, which was usable at pre-merger hotel categories 1-8, converts into travel package hotel week, reward code QP91, usable at post-merger hotel categories 1-5. The pre-merger hotel week credits for 135,000 points and the post-merger hotel week is issued for 105,000 points, for a net difference of +30,000 points on your account. |

Help Catching up
I just got through a wedding and have been out of touch for months. I'm hoping someone will catch me up. I have a C5 7 night travel pkg through Marriott. I know since the merger there have been lots of changes. I would like to book something in Hawaii (I have never been there, plus its the only place I can think of I want to stay for 7 nights). Any suggestions. Will my cert. still work?

If this is a pre-merger Cat5, then it's a new Cat4. IIRC, there are two Cat4 Courtyard properties in Hawaii that it would work at.
IMHO I would lean toward Kona between those two, because right in Kona town is a better place to be than on the south edge of Kapaa. |

Check the wiki. You would need to find an agent willing to cancel your OC6 and order you a QP91. This would cost an extra 30k points over the OC6 cert (assuming 7 nights) to switch to an NC5. People have been able to do this since 8/18 but more recently there have been a lot of denials. Most agents have been informed not to allow upgrades so I would not ask for an upgrade. Assuming your cert is unattached I would tell the agent that I understood that I needed to change my old TP cert to a new one in order to use it now, after getting confirmation from them that this is correct to make sure they are not clueless, I would tell them I would like to cancel my old cert and order a new QP91 cert and ask them if they are familiar with the process and can do this for you.
QP91 is an NC5 but given the pushback people have been getting trying to upgrade categories I would not mention the NC5 category. I would start with calling a UK agent since previously reports were they were more helpful. You might have to HUCA a few times and it may or may not work. If an agent is unwilling to convert to a QP91 you do not have them cancel the old cert and order a new NC4 cert. Once you get a new cert it is exponentially harder to get an upgrade. Your best chance is to get upgraded when converted from the old cert to the new cert. 7-night packages

Trying to redeem a week certificate and getting this error when looking up rates for a specific hotel:
"We’re sorry. This property is not taking redemption bookings at this time. You can either book a cash reservation or search for another property." Has anyone else had this happen? EDIT: It's for an Autograph Collection property, so I don't think anything in the Wiki will apply. |

So I've managed to get to the bottom of this. I think it's to do with how certificates show on the new Marriott system.
I also had a second Cat1-4 certificate, which I have attached to a separate 7-night Cat4 stay (using the certificate in full). This too is showing 45,000 points outstanding on the reservation. What's actually going on is that my Cat1-4 certificate has a system/cancellation value of 45,000 points. So, the full points cost of the stay is somehow 'reduced' to the value of the certificate, and then the certificate is attached to offset this. I have called both hotels and both are satisfied that there is a certificate covering the full stay. Only, it doesn't look that way on the website! The trick is to ignore the "My Trips" section of the Marriott website, as this is completely misleading/confusing. Another Marriott IT triumph! |
I’ve read a lot of these and can’t find an answer. I have two 5-night certificates, both OC5, which I know will convert to NC4. I see one post above of a successful upgrade to NC5 for 45k points each. Anyone able, or know what the cost would be, to upgrade to NC6? Thanks. |
