Travel Package General Discussion Thread

This thread is a new post-consolidation discussion of Marriott Travel Package Awards.

I believe I figured the corresponding codes for packages in the new system. Please check your emails with subject "new reward order confirmation" to help me complete it.

5-night packages
  • OC5 530T/P530 = NC4 QP53 (to be confirmed)

7-night packages
  • OC5 830T/P830 = NC4 QP83 (refund value: 45K)
  • OC6 870T/P870 = NC4 QP87 (refund value: 75K)
  • OC7 910T/P910 = NC5 QP91 (refund value: 105K)
  • OC8 950T/P950 = NC5 QP95 (refund value: 135K)
  • OC9 990T/P990 = NC6 QP99 (refund value: 165K)

Other 7-night packages
  • OC7 P880 = NC5 QP88 (refund value: 135K)
  • OC8 P920 = NC5 QP92 (refund value: 165K)

xx0T = initial package;
Pxx0 = partial package;
QPxx = post-merger converted partial package

Has anyone been successful getting 30k for an OC 6 or 8?

Yup - I used the Contact Us form and they change me from an OC6 to a NC4 and gave me back 30k.

Awesome Were the certificates attached to a reservation already? Is there any special language I need to use with the agent? It's been 2 weeks and they haven't replied to the online request I submitted per the Marriott Social Media team.

Anyone have any luck upgrading? I still think its absurd not being able to upgrade at the new rates...

Nope it wasn't attached and no special language - however, I'm sure like the calls, it can depend on the agent. Mine took 8 days to get taken care of but it was nice not dealing with the CSR roulette.

Did that extend the expiration date of the packages

To one one year from the date of the refund?

if not, any suggestions as to how to extend the cancellation date — my August trip was cancelled due to hospitalization, would be much better for me to be able to use the two seven day trips next August,

did you request this through Conract form, or by calling which call center?

thank you

How did you know QP53 even exists?

I’ve been shifting my nights over to IHG and Hilton now. The new redemption rates for travel packages combined with their weak promos def made me give up on this program

I was able to redeem for a 5-night package in the past and its code was 530T so my guess is the converted package is QP53 if we follow the same trend.

No one has, to my knowledge, when it comes to using the pre-August 18th certificates for booking attempts made on/after August 18th, 2018. Marriott seems to have intentionally undermined the value its customers may get from the already issued travel packages by having mapped the certificates to lower (rather than higher proportion) categories, and its greedy desires are more easily met by encouraging downgrades to the hotel part rather than upgrades. Maybe Marriott will become a little more generous on/after September 18th, but given Marriott's greedy, anti-customer shenanigans and incompetence in the transition when dealing with customers with these travel package hotel certs, I wouldn't suggest holding your breath for an improvement in the scale and scope of hotel options using already issued certs. Marriott has by design sought to fleece its customers and done so with this TP transition.

'If you hold a Category 6, 8, or Tier 1-3 legacy certificate, it's ideal to downgrade your certificate before converting so that points don't potentially get lost in the process.' hhoope01

I'm not sure about this. When I redeem my Cat 6 cert I will be looking for a Cat 5 or Cat 6 property as repeatedly promised throughout the purchasing process. I won't be accepting a new Cat 4.

Well I don't think it exists just yet.
