This thread refers to the various Marriott brands within a specific geographic area. Marriott Bonvoy hotels in XX usually have posts asking which property is better, etc. Trip reports are usually better suited in the property specific threads.

we used to live about 1 km (as the crow flies) from BC place, across false creek. One night we're sitting in our living room, windows closed (it's winter) and i hear this loud noise. it was a strange noise. i went out into our back patio and heard what i thought were monster trucks. i checked it out and sure enough, there was a monster truck show at BC place. this was years before those two hotels opened but i can't imagine how loud it would have been in the rooms there if it was loud 1 km away. we could also regularly hear the concerts there but just barely.
beware.

[QUOTE=eiffel21;31560378]Nazdoom Thanks much for the info and suggestions on the Douglas and the Parq. Their rate is within our budget, and I just thought that downtown is where we should stay. We are now looking into Yaletown, seems like it's a great area to stay at. I just looked at the Parq, and the only concern I have is that there's a casino in the property. We like the quiet type of property (St Regis hotels and Royal Hawaiian are a few of our favorite). How would you describe the JW Parq, is it loud and crowded? Thanks again.
IMO the JW is very quiet. The casino itself is in essence part of a different building and requires a decent walk from the JW's lobby. I got an upgrade to a suite on the 21st (or so) floor and as you can imagine, it was dead quiet

just make sure there are no loud events at BC Place which is the stadium to which the JW Parq and The Douglas are attached to.

Pinnacle ?
Any recent stays @ The Pinnacle?
I have a 4-night stay upcoming next month. Called ahead and discovered the lounge is closed, no date set for re-opening. That's a pity!

Looking for any suggestions as I'm currently deciding between the Sheraton Wall, Marriott Pinnacle, or Delta Downtown for a stay in October. Main criteria are nice views, decent upgrade chances (Platinum), and currently offering breakfast for elites. I've stayed at the Marriott before, and am familiar with the locations of all 3, but haven't stayed at the Delta or the Sheraton. It sounds like the Sheraton is currently offering breakfast for elites, but didn't see any updates on the other properties.
Any suggestions or comparison points? I could also consider one of the Westin properties or the JW if there's a huge difference, but those properties are a fair bit more expensive (either Westin would be ~$110 more for the weekend, and the JW would be about $210 more).

recent stay@ the Marriott
I am not a fan of the Sheraton. I spent 9 nights last month @ the Marriott. I like the staff - but - as you may be aware, Plat means very lttle post pandemic - room upgrade, free brekkie in the rest, late checkout, that's about it.
The Delta is directly opposite the Waterfront Station. Good location for transit, Sea Bus, etc.

Room upgrade, free restaurant breakfast, and late checkout is "very little"?
