This is the master thread for all VGC and MCGC sold at Staples.
The previous discussion can be found here.
The VGCs sold at Staples are issued by Metabank and serviced by Blackhawk Network.
The activation code for online purchase comes with the card. Cards purchased at store are activated at check-out.
To activate cards over the phone (without activation codes), call (877) 426-2551 to talk to a rep.
To activate cards over the web, www.giftcardkey.com.
The default PIN number is the last four digits of the card number but can be changed online.
As of 5/12/2014, all known portals are dead.
Earn 5x points with Chase Ink, or Simply Cash for 5% cash back
Buy Visa gift cards (Metabank) at Staples ($200 for $7.95) or the website ($300 for $8.95).
2k Limit per transaction / 10k per day for online. In-store is usually 2k but YMMV
Often times, there are promotions with no or reduced activation fees

I suspect that is why the cards are either gone after one day or more likely hidden away by the manager.

Stopped by my local store and took 5 cards to the cashier. The cashier does not know want to do and called manager. Manager came and said there is a limit of one card per day. Then he told the cashier that she can sell 5 cards to me.
Not a huge fan of those $200 cards. But can handle some.

I'm also in bay area (San Jose). Went to Staples on Hamilton near 880 yesterday and they had none on rack, but when asked, they told me they were stocked behind counter and got me one and only one for purchase.......Here's hoping that the 20% ($34 Max) promo on my Chase Ink card works......

Saw the $34 showed up today. Actually received Chase Congrat emails yesterday. 2 accounts have that. Expect to see the remaining varieties to show up. ($6, $10, $17, $20 and $30 - yes, there are these many "flavors" of the Staples offers on business cards not just Ink, as well as business checking accounts.)
The only Staples in the whole county of ours, strictly enforces the 1 card per Household rule, not just per person - but if you come in together, you can only buy 1 card. As a result, we can come anytime of the day, any day of the week, still be able to find cards in 95% of the time. It helps the store is just 1 mile from home, and in the same plaza of an ethnic grocer where we also shop... Besides, there are also 10X ODs in town that are friendly with Everywhere cards...
