This is the master thread for all VGC and MCGC sold at Staples.
The previous discussion can be found here.

The VGCs sold at Staples are issued by Metabank and serviced by Blackhawk Network.
The activation code for online purchase comes with the card. Cards purchased at store are activated at check-out.
To activate cards over the phone (without activation codes), call (877) 426-2551 to talk to a rep.
To activate cards over the web, www.giftcardkey.com.
The default PIN number is the last four digits of the card number but can be changed online.

As of 5/12/2014, all known portals are dead.

Earn 5x points with Chase Ink, or Simply Cash for 5% cash back
Buy Visa gift cards (Metabank) at Staples ($200 for $7.95) or the website ($300 for $8.95).

2k Limit per transaction / 10k per day for online. In-store is usually 2k but YMMV
Often times, there are promotions with no or reduced activation fees

They are aware there is a problem, give them a call and they will replace them.

Mine arrived today. Anyone been able to activate them and use them without issue? If not I'd just as soon call to try to get a refund check instead of wasting more time.

Probably because stacks of $100s are even more of a pain than $200s to get rid of. Hopefully it's not the new standard.

Yet another MCGC problem.
Glad I swore them off after the screw job in Oct.

I fell for the fee free MC gift card trap from staples.com

I got the gift card and activation code in the same mail. It does not even say where to call or what website to visit to activate. Is it mcgift.mastercard.com? It only has register option and no activate option. I get the below error when I try to register. Help!!!

"We are unable to process your request at this time. If you continue to receive this error, please contact Cardholder services by calling the number on the back of your card."

anyone else having in-stock issues with their stores as of 4Q 2019 or 2020? My medium sized metro in the midwest (non-Chicago, Columbus, etc.) was wiped out by Monday each time these deals went live and I checked ~5 or so stores.
