you can't miss it if there was one because it's glued right on the front of the card. I think the older ones don't have the pin on them, not sure if you can use the last 4 of the card for the pin.

All gift cards i purchased from Kroger had an unique PIN attached to the gift card.... You can't use the last 4 digits of the card.

Then again I'm so used to tossing the packaging in the trash as soon as I buy the card, I may have accidentally ripped it off somehow. I will be on the lookout next time. Otherwise, I will stick to buying cards at randalls since they sell the metabank card that comes with the pin as the last 4 automatically enabled.

When you open the card packaging, the card is affixed via that sticky gunk to a a sheet of white stock.
The pin is printed on the back of that.
It is very easy to miss.

It doesn't matter, since I still could not load the card, even after setting up the pin by calling the number on the back of the card. I was able to successfully load a metabank VGC just before it at the WM register. Then, I went to load the US Bank VGC, and I got an error "alternate form of payment required."
I even went back, called the number again, verified the balance on the card, and tried to set the pin one more time. No luck, same error once more.
Any ideas??

Before I updated the pin over the phone, the error I got was "incorrect pin".
After I updated the pin over the phone, I got the error "alternate form of payment required". So it appears it did accept my pin number, but still didn't like something else about the card. And I can't blame the register, because as I said I loaded a metabank VGC just before it at the same one.
I gave up and just used the GC to buy another VGC from gift card mall. I know those work

Still odd that it works for everyone else but not me.

Wrong thread, but there have been reports that once you enter an incorrect PIN, it is hard to use that card again as a debit card with PIN, even if you reset PIN and enter the correct PIN.

I was worried I might have locked out the card or something after putting the wrong pin in.

You're not the only one! Been trying to unload a VGC to BB several times since Saturday without luck. Went to 2 different WM, first the incorrect PIN error and after changing it over the phone, tender not allowed error. What's going on here?

Purchased 2k in VGCs at Kroger, then I took them to WM to feed Kate.
No problem at all.

Sadly it ends up being at least a $5 mistake - either you have to buy a new GC with that GC running it on credit or you can liquidate it via a CC method (Redbird probably the most viable option now), but that carries the opportunity cost of losing the ability to use a points earning card.

Even one incorrect entry of the PIN can do this. I've gotten locked out of many of these cards just either remembering the provided PIN wrong or fat fingering it.
