Technically, depends on your gas tank. If you have a way to use the FP to the max - 35 gallons per fill up, it's worth it. If you get less than 25 gallons per fill up - does not make much sense.

Well, I am comparing 10x$100 with FP vs 2x$500 without FP, so it looks like 23.8 gallons to get the same deal.
Edit: just came back from the store - 4x is up and running, looks like until 12/9

I can almost count on both hands the number of gallons of gas I've bought in the past 12 months that weren't from a Kroger fuel center at $1.00 off per gallon. Granted, I usually only have 1-2 fill-ups per month. Car tank only holds 11-14 gallons, depending on which car I go in. Simple investment in 4 five gallon gas cans to cover the balance of the 35 gallon limit easily paid for itself in a few months.
And just some basic spending awareness translates into enough fuel points from branded gift cards without changing my normal spending habits (and certainly without incurring any prepaid card fees). My usual gift cards are Amazon, DIY stores, SBUX, and a few restaurants and stores that the wife shops at.

You are correct, it all depends on what you are after - FP, min spend, bonus points, etc. The problem with your situation - it can not be scaled. It does not make sense to increase your spendings to accommodate more Kroger purchases, while buying VGCs lets you manufacture as much spend as you are comfortable with.

GC heaven
Thought I'd share my little story from today. Went to a different Food4Less than usual but got my usual weekly $500 VGC nevertheless. The cashier asked for my ID like they always do and then she got stuck. Something on her screen asked her to enter ID#. I have a little piece of paper right next to my license in the viewing window of my wallet with a bank acct#, just the number, no hint what it might be good for
She actually punches in that acct# and wonders why the system doesn't accept it
Then she called for the checkout supervisor which scared the crap out of me
He comes, she explains all kinds of stuff about a $500 GC etc and he doesn't even listen to her. Looks on the screen and asks what # she had put in there
She explains that this is my ID#. Seems she apparently has no idea what a California driver's license looks like - even though it was right in front of her - didn't even realize they're not 10 digits like my acct# and that nornal ppl wouldn't write their ID# on a piece of paper when you can read it right off the ID itself
SV is confused, looks at her with a real stupid face and tells her to enter HER ID# as in passcode for the register
Seemed pretty pissed that this girl had no idea what she was doing. He didn't give a rat's a$$ about my GC at all and actually apologized that it took her so long to check me out

Fraud Datapoint
Bought a USB VGC that had apparently been tampered with in Midwest store (have bought tons w/ nothing similar until now). Cardboard glue everything seemed fine. Went to call to set P1N and balance was 498... Knew something not kosher. Fraud dept said a charge authorization to the GAP was on there, had only waited a couple hours to open and set P1N.
Faxed in all the necessaries to USB... HOPEFULLY will get quick resolution. Anybody else w same issue?

Afraid the 2.00 was the pending auth for the full drain amount. The CSR canceled right away. He seemed to say people can "get the numbers" without the package even being messed with? Great...
