This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.

Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.

ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.

ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

Following do not work:
Any and all Vanilla VISA, Vanilla MC, and OneVanilla VISA.
Glimcher VISA
MASTERCARD
$1.88 next day.
Works:
Bank of America Cash Rewards Business MC

Write it out on a piece of paper, hand it to the cashier, and try again.

Anyone have an issue with the WM POS terminal locking up at the third debit swipe, requiring the POS terminal to be rebooted? Not the full computer, just the terminal where you swipe your debit card? I've got a WM where this is happening, it's a pain, so I'm limiting my swipes to 2, but would love to do another $500 per trip if there's an easier workaround then rebooting the terminal?

Thanks

One of my favorite WMs does this regularly. I'll load BB there but for BP I use one with brand new POS terminals. They work like a dream!

POS terminal that freezes reads 'Cannot process' and is frozen. Must reboot after the second swipe.

I don't recall exactly, but it's happened every time (5?) I've tried 3 swipes. Something to the effect of "Error - transaction could not be processed". Show's a green "OK" button that is non-responsive when pushed.

It's not just me it happens do. There's another MS'er at this location; CSR (who is very friendly) has told me it happens to him every time as well. He (the other MS'er) is the one that showed her how to reboot the POS terminal.

Three different CSRs in two different stores (both with very new pinpads* FWIW) are claiming they can't find a Debit button on their keypad. I tried to find it too with their permission, but didn't wanna intrude too much and failed. Never done a BP before.

P.S. I think everybody gets the point of the posts where old-timers are chewing out others in this thread, but if the main point is "Please don't clog up the thread with non-info" then it seems to me the best option is to just ignore the offending post instead of adding to the clog LOL. Thank you.

Try this, i posted this previously.

"For Billpay, they enter $500 AFTER you swipe AND enter the pin.

If you are doing $1,998.12, this will be 4 $500 swipes. After the 3rd swipe, you get a message "Unable to process (i think)", just press ok. The next screen seems to be frozen so you press 'cancel', and then you can finally swipe the 4th card. I've gotten used to this workaround which i ALWAYS encounter at the three Walmarts I go to. "

Make sure that they are using CheckFreePay and no MoneyGram bill pay.

The $1998 WMBP I made Tuesday morning to my Arrival Plus (Mastercard) hasn't posted yet.

Wiki: Tuesday posts on Wednesday night /Thursday morning

It has been several months since I have seen a late posting, and then it typically was over a weekend, not during the week.

Sometimes it takes a few days. Don't worry.

Thanks. Not worried at all. Just posting it as FYI. Apparently I am not the only one, either, to see a late posting.

I also made some payments on 11/10 (around 8:50 PM CST) and on 11/11 around 6:02 PM These haven't posted yet. It looks like the Federal reserve was closed on Veteran's day, and it might add an extra business day.
Update: all payments posted now.
