This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html

Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.

BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
Friday after 06:59PM EST, until Monday BEFORE 07:00PM EST arrives Tuesday
Tuesday BEFORE 7:00PM arrives Wednesday
Wednesday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Thursday
Thursday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Friday
Friday BEFORE 07:00PM arrives Monday
But when a next-day payment will post and be visible depends upon the CC issuer.

--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.

Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.

ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.

ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."

"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.

Following do not work:
Any and all Vanilla VISA, Vanilla MC, and OneVanilla VISA.
Glimcher VISA

$1.88 next day.
Works:

What would some of the people on here do with their evenings, then?

Just a datapoint but for last couple days, have had no luck with doing 2k WM BP using 4 OV's, having visited 3 different walmarts (with one of them visited twice), and each time have tried got the "debit not available" message printed out.

Hopefully its a matter that the CSR is entering it wrong, as I've checked all my cards online to have the $500 balance. Will try again today.

Dude - are you not aware the OV's are dead at WM?

I hope you do not have to visit even more Walmarts

That really sucks.

I'm not asking to be spoonfed and will research this forum more and by going to stores, but now need to figure out which drug or grocery stores in NJ sell $500 GC's with CC that are non vanilla.

Buying 5k at a time at CVS has been my primary way so far.

This reminds me of the Family Guy episode when Quagmire finally discovers online porn from Peter.

You can still use OV paying bills thru Evolve. You can use your ccs directly with Amazon payments. And the reports are that the Metabank GCs are still working at WM. It just got more difficult, but far from impossible.

Tried to do a WM Bpay today w/ non Vanilla cards. They told me their MoneyGram/ExpressPay system had been down for two weeks. I made it abundantly clear I wanted to use next-day via CheckFreePay. The cashier showed me on the screen how the whole ExpressPay button was greyed out, disallowing both MoneyGram AND CheckFreePay Billpay. The store co-mngr was there and also confirmed.

Does this make any sense? I'm the only MSer in my town so I can't imagine the 5K I sent through WM Bpay last month had anything to do with this.

I never really went to Wal-Mart to MS even before this, but last time I was in there a couple days ago the desk had a sign up saying "No Money Orders, No Moneygram, No Billpay" etc.

I know people have done MO since then but maybe there is an iota of truth to what they are saying in regards to CheckFree.

Thanks for the data point, it's not a good sign if WM is having major issues like that.

I assumed WMs claiming "No MoneyGram services" was a pro-active response to OVs not working. Seems like a bigger issue for sure.
