This is the thread for posts through 2016. The new thread for 2017 is http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/manufactured-spending/1826119-billpay-walmart-2017-a.html
Bill Pay cannot be done at a regular register.
It must be done at Customer Service/Returns.
Or at the Money Center in stores that have it.
BUSINESS DAY transaction completion time is 18:59:59 EST
--------------------------------------------------------------
WM offers two BP services: CheckFreePAY and MoneyGram. The cashier can initiate CheckFreePAY by selecting Money Services followed by Bill Pay on the register for a fee of $1-1.88. Moneygram is $4.99.
Once your CFP account is set up, you can add cc. When you want to BP give them your phone# to look up your account under Money Services. They often get confused and think you want MG, but just say it is under Money Services.
ONLY 4 successful debit card swipes can pay for a transaction.
ONLY 5 payments per 16 digit account number per rolling 30 days.
--------------------------------------------
:-:VISA and MC
If your particular card isn't on the list below, try "VISA" or "MASTERCARD."
"VISA" and "MASTERCARD" payee can no longer be found by search at some stores. If the employee can no longer find "VISA" or "MASTERCARD" by searching in CheckFreePAY, then you cannot pay either, end of story.
Following do not work:

That really sucks.
I'm not asking to be spoonfed and will research this forum more and by going to stores, but now need to figure out which drug or grocery stores in NJ sell $500 GC's with CC that are non vanilla.
Buying 5k at a time at CVS has been my primary way so far.

I never really went to Wal-Mart to MS even before this, but last time I was in there a couple days ago the desk had a sign up saying "No Money Orders, No Moneygram, No Billpay" etc.
I know people have done MO since then but maybe there is an iota of truth to what they are saying in regards to CheckFree.

Tried to do a WM Bpay today w/ non Vanilla cards. They told me their MoneyGram/ExpressPay system had been down for two weeks. I made it abundantly clear I wanted to use next-day via CheckFreePay. The cashier showed me on the screen how the whole ExpressPay button was greyed out, disallowing both MoneyGram AND CheckFreePay Billpay. The store co-mngr was there and also confirmed.
Does this make any sense? I'm the only MSer in my town so I can't imagine the 5K I sent through WM Bpay last month had anything to do with this.

I tried BP twice today. First I had to teach the am and afternoon CSRs AND their managers how to find the MC payment (CheckFree). Once I convinced them that paying MC and not Citi would work, getting them to try a split tender was impossible. (Not a lot of brain power around here.) Ended up doing 3 separate transactions for the $1.88 fee each time. Annoying, but I didn't want to push it. Apparently I'm the only one in town who is paying Citi and the only one who wants to split the transaction to do a larger payment. That's both good (no MS competition) and bad (I stand out....). Anyway--is there a "partial payment button" for them to hit to make this happen?
Thanks. I've wandered through the wiki but I'm not getting a clear answer on this little detail.

CC number
Name
phone number
total amount to be paid
--delete---
cashier hits debit button
cashier enters swipe amount
then for multiple swipes:
cashier hits debit button again, or just next swipe amount?
cashier enters swipe amount
cashier enters swipe amount
cashier enters swipe amount

Also, the debit key is on the screen, not the keypad. They must hit split payment AFTER you swipe.

I can't seem to find a thread about Kmart BP. Can anyone share more info on limits? Cashier couldn't seem to figure out how to split payment. But did try and try. Only one store anywhere near, so I'm unable too check another one.
