Thats how Walgreens is coded in my area. $500 cash only. $3.95 cash or credit.

If your paying cash for it whats the point of paying the fee on the CC? Or perhaps I am missing something.

With credit cards, they can at least check your ID, but with gift cards, they can't.

Yes they can if you have an embosser
:D

Im sure a few savvy crooks have done the above but I bet they only learned about gcs and how to best liquidate them by reading the blogs

Haha, same here. You would have to buy hundreds of VRs to even make it profitable or to even get close to the minimum spending requirements for most cards.

...not to mention having to spend a full $1/point to meet the minimum spend. For the Citi AA executive card with the 100,000 pts for $10K spend, it would cost $10,000 for 110,000 points - that's 9 cents/point without factoring any additional costs that might be associated with liquidating the $ in VR's. Wht are we even discussing this?

I have been withdrawing thousands of cash every week from my bank to buy VRs until I got shut down by my bank and also realized I was wasting money and time for nothing.

Do you care to elaborate on how you wasted time and money? Not too sure if flying FC to Hong Kong, and Sydney is a waste of time for less then $500 for two people...

adminds Apr 6, 2014 11:23 am

Are you kidding? If not, you were paying VR fees for zero points/miles.

CVS is still allowing CREDIT CARD for VR purchases.you can go to your bank and withdraw $500 and pay to load the VR. Then you can use your credit card to pay the $3.95 fee for each card.

I was answering the question of how "cash only" is coded. Of course, it is pointless to pay $500 cash and $3.95 credit.

Looks like US Airways is selling miles almost as cheap as CVS/Incomm. Just picked up 200 VR's worth in about 2 minutes and didn't even have to waste anything on gas!

Comes out to about 1.1 cpm. It's more than VR at 0.8 cpm, but gas and time have to be worth something. Plus you can do 50,000 miles per account with this. Get a family member in the mix, and you can manufacture 100,000 miles in about 4 minutes.

That should even give the most aggressive MSers a run for their money :)

I would guess most here weren't/aren't paying .8 cpm with VR purchases.
