I don't know who all's radar this thread has popped up on, but Google is definitely on top of it. I just googled "CVS master thread" (no quotes) since it was faster than navigating through FT, and google's results were from the last page, which has only been around for a few minutes. They're obviously hitting refresh as often as the rest of us.

Some people managed to still buy at their stores Saturday and Sunday. By Monday morning, everything was dead and gone.

Except for this youtube video by amolkold which lives on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6R5cEEqXpk. amolkold, the community demands a CVS sequel :D.

This video was frickin great!

He will probably log into his LinkedIn account tomorrow and wonder "Why did 1,000+ people view my profile yesterday?" lol

you reallly think a corp memo from HQ is going to be regional and cvs's in certain areas are going to have hard stops programmed to accept only cash  really?

EVERYTHING about this mirrors the OD shut down- lots of people called bs on that one.

what we REALLY need is for the guy that made the youtube hitler OD VR video to make a new one. the only problem is that was such gold that it would be near impossible to match.

Given the panic that has obviously gripped the Flyertalk community over the apparent demise of VR purchases at CVS, I started wondering just how big a business this might be. I've never seen any data, but my wild guess would be that there are 20,000 people spending $10,000/month on MS at CVS.

That's "only" $200 million. The US economy will survive.

Unless I'm off by a magnitude of 10. :)

My guess is that this doesn't take effect everywhere all at once. It will slowly roll out to all locations, similar to what happened with Kroger fuel points for variable V/MCGCs.

The video pretty much matches up with what is happening now. Just sub in CVS for Office Depot, but all of the rest of it seems spot on. The picture of Emily holding the VRs on the blog are still there. rofl

Ha ha, that video's good.

Not really the same thing, but for some reason i think of Emily as the Yoko Ono of MS.

Maybe the new video could star Putin saying that the memos massed on the CVS border are just an exercise?:D

Report from the greater Los Angeles area:

I rushed home tonight after seeing the news on FT so I can pick up all my cards. Skipped dinner with the family and bolted out the door.

Now i usually take a long drive and hit up a cluster of stores in an impoverished area. These tend to be very busy but flush with VR's because of the clientele. Only ONCE in my entire MS career was a CVS out of stock. Today, all of them are gone except one store. And it so happens to be the only store that actually enforces the 5k daily limit. Anyways, I walked out with 5k worth at 7:54 pm in Los Angeles so that is somewhat good news

Bad news is that my family now thinks I should be admitted to a mental asylum

Which over a year is 2.4 billion in revenue CVS will miss out on... Out of 127billion total , that'd be 2% drop. Buy puts on CVS!

We all knew this day was coming. I shall count Darius in my (blessings) for hastening this day much like he hastened the day of OD. I'm waiting at 12

nadir576 Mar 30, 2014 9:40 pm

Alright, I am outside of one of the 24 hour CVS and reporting it live. I will go inside the store at exactly 12:01 am and will try to use my newly minted AA card to buy few beans. Stay tuned for the latest updates!

Note:I wish I have CNN's magic wall to make it more dramatic.

Edit: All times are EST but seriously someone should tweet it live.
