I heard of someone getting met in a parking lot by a police lieutenant. Thankfully, they weren't arrested, but they were asked a bunch of questions.

Be careful out there.

I am in the area and my local store has always had them. I was there today and saw some, although I did not check on how many. I know down in Houston, via a friend, their store got a shipment on sometime this weekend, a big one.

That's encouraging.

These depletions of inventory sound similar to the phenomenon we experienced when the new updated cards were released.

Also, I think that the big Citi offer is causing people to buy more cards.

What areas? I recently stumbled across one that had a good 20-30 cards.

Are there any other Ink cardholders? Per FlightNurse, buying VR's isn't a good use of Ink?!? So I'm trying to figure out why others still buy VR's with Ink.

Unless you're able to get VR at a gas station (2X category) , there is no point in using the Ink as a 1X card.

There are better ways to go about it. Paying your usual bills that fall under the 5X categories not to mention the possible gift cards available. At the same time, sometimes it's just much easier to do the usual VR's.

I already using Ink for Stapling, paying internet/utilities. And have bought $500 in GC's at Staples.

I'm trying to meet min. spend requirement for signup. Would it be better to spend $2500 -3K in gift cards at Staples (Amazon, Whole Foods, Home Depot) than $2500 - 3K in VR's?

What were the denominations of the GC and the fees?

Your best buck is usually with gift cards.

Then VR's at gas stations.

Then the basic VR's.

There is nothing wrong with using VR's to meet your minimum spend to get it off your mind.

Yeah, I read that story too and the person who posted it NEVER responded about details. Think about captains and LT's are paper pushers they do not go out and investigate things unless told to by the Chief.... Let's look at this for a second, why would a local PD care about this is, this would fall more under Federal law then local law.. So please do not take that posting as anything more then fork lore to scare people....

You didn't say you need to meet spend. I thought you were trying to maximize points earn.

If that's the case. VR away!

If thats true then it doesnt pay to use any CC if all 1 earns is 1x. I happen to disagree and think its OK even at 1x at times. UA took 100k for a BF tkt to Europe, that would mean buying 200 VRs @ $500 each that would mean paying $790 in fees . So a BF tkt to Europe for $790 isnt a good deal? Yea there may be better deals but Ink @ 1x is still a viable option depending what you plan to do with the pts Transfer 25k in pts to Hyatt and get a night at say the Park Hyatt in Paris , 50 VRs @ $500 each, fees of $197.50 bet you cant get a room at that Hyatt for anything near that

im not saying that Ink doesnt have better usage but even at 1x it works for many folks

I don't want to sit on $3K worth of Amazon, Whole Foods and other GC's that will take me a while to get through.

:) I just read about AmEx GC's (buying through BC / TCB) -- then using them for VR's. So I'll give that a whirl.

Just make sure you have a way to liquidate them.
That's the only thing holding me back from AMEX GC's.

VR's are the safest bet for your current quest.

If you are willing to play that game, feel free to learn.
