Same here. But in the store I'm thinking of, I am pretty sure they are just getting bought out. The store is next to several large tech companies where it is very likely many employees would have both the income and inclination to cash in on the VR rush. I also wouldn't be surprised that some of the clerks will hold a supply for their friends.

Wasn't there somebody upthread that contacted CVS corporate to request that their local CVS be restocked with VR's? I'd like to review that procedure, as my local store has been out of stock for too long. I've brought it to the manager's attention and mentioned it to several clerks, but still, dry dry dry.

CVS now $5k/day

A few months back I went to the CVS website, looked up my local CVS number and just sent a message asking why the store had not stocked VRs for over a month. Seemed to fix the problem.

Vr error code 4005, suspended

I recently purchased 5k VR at cvs store I deal with for almost a year and ran into this issue for the first time
none of the 10 cards I bought that day worked.
called Vanilla, got a response said that CVS deactivated my cards after I purchased them.
went back to the CVS store, manager said he could not deactivate cards, there is nothing he can do
so I was kicking back and forth by them.
any idea how I can reach a resolution besides file cc dispute?
I saw some ppl here got the same probelm
hope you guys could provide some updates if you got a resolution finally.
thanks/

It finally happened!!! My favorite "on-a-first-name-basis" CVS is out of VR's for the first time in a year.

Now I have to go to the one 1/2 a mile a away

Are they maybe changing the scratch strips or something again? Last time InComm did that the VR's where rare for a while....

Doubt it. There seems to be some weird cyclical nature to VR availability. Boston area hit a dry spell in January but VRs are once again plentiful.

Really? My Boston location has been dry since November at least. My other locations have been fine.

I also do know that there is a worker there who has told me he/she buys those cards so they can travel for free so my mind came up with a possible reason why this rule was instilled.

This is actually my biggest fear regarding VR availability at CVS. Right now where I'm at its all about timing. The stores sell out in a day or two tops. Lucky for me, I have two stores that are on my route to/from work, and since I walk to work I can just peek my head in real quick to see what the availability is each day. However, it would not surprise me if the CVS employees start keeping them for themselves, if anyone there is so inclined.

I would suspect this could be true on a very small basis, but more like, holding some back for someone willing to give them say $50 bucks. If an employee does this, they make an easy $200/m for doing NOTHING... So this is what I'm beating is happening..

I hadn't even considered that. I wouldn't pay for access to VRs and I suspect many here feel the same way. Anything that cuts in to the "profit" is a waste. I also think that most managers would not be happy about an employee "selling" access to the store's inventory.

On the other hand, if employees choose to "hold" inventory for themselves it does not impact the store at all.

One CVS clerk told me one person walked out with a handful of unloaded VR’s. He referred to them as just worthless plastic. VR’s do not last in the stores in my area very long any more.:td:

contact state financial regulator of money service businesses, aka money transmitters. one of the two InComm subs listed on back of the VR cards will be registered in your state. I had similar problem, solved within a week of filing complaint w/ state regulator.

1K in a transaction is the point at which they ask to scan your ID, right? I know I had seen that somewhere, but I can't find it now.

Yes. $1k in VR card value not total transaction amount.

Ok, great. So picking up a few more items that might push you over the 1K mark doesn't affect that. Good to know.

EDIT: Also, sorry. I looked all through the thread for it, and it's right in front of me - it's in the wiki. Read the wiki, noob.
