I have done it numerous times - no issue. The cashiers (the smarter ones, not the ones that buy into the homeland security crap) know what we are doing. Actually the other day one of the cashiers told me his brother in law went to the Caribbean for two weeks for free.

I've done 4 different CVS now in the Indianapolis area ranging from $1.5k to 3k. Seems to be most stores in the area now as far as I can tell, I haven't been rejected yet. Some stores also have the new policy laminated and up by the registers, one had it taped down to the counter next to the register.

I've got 3 stores along my commute that let me buy $5K at a time in a single transaction. I have to swipe my DL, of course, but otherwise no problems. Most of the cashiers have gotten to know me by now, and no longer feel uncomfortable about ringing up such a big transaction. I don't know if it helps, but I stopped feeling uncomfortable about such a big transaction long ago as well...so maybe a little casual demeanor and little easy small is helpful.

I will forever blame you now when my #1 is out of VR's. :p

Noob help

Have had my Ink Plus + Simply Cash cards for a week.

Bought my first $500 VR at CVS yesterday using my Ink Plus. After uploading the VR to BB, I paid $400 to my other legacy AmEx card.

I will probably need to buy $2K within the next 2 months to meet the min. spend requirement for the signup bonuses. I will buy VR's for Ink; reluctant on buying VR's with AmEx Simply Cash.

How long should I wait before buying another $500 VR with Ink? Luckily (knock on wood), the VR's are plentiful at several CVS's near me.

I could not disagree more with this statement. Most clerks I deal with could careless. Many of them I'm on a first name basis, and have explained what I am doing they do not have a problem with it. In fact I have helped a couple of them get a Chase Freedom Card and help then on their way. There is so much misinformation out there that the managers tell the clerks that I would rather tell them the truth and educate them.

Why are you buying VR with an INK card? There better use for that card then VR...

Min. spend for signup bonus (have to spend $8k over next 3 months). Already Stapling to the max with the FAR crap - but have to balance it out w/ my Staples rewards.

My plan also includes buying GC's, paying internet/cable/wireless, insurance, health stuff. Have other expenses that will make a big dent. But coming up short.

What cap? I wasn't aware that Staples had a cap for purchases.... Buying one VR at a time is a waste of time, and you shouldn't have a problem buying 2K, but of course YMMV....

Free After Rebate / MM cRap (not cap) -- e.g. binders, paper, software :)

Last month, spent over $500 on binders! But made $200+

I bought just 1 VR because my card is still new. Don't want to risk getting shutdown or flagged.

From my experiences, chase is pretty easygoing about their ink card. For instance I just got a new ink (3rd one), and loaded 1k+1k at target without any issues as my first two uses. I'm a stapler as well, but it's hard to rack up too much of a tab there unless you get $200 cards...at least if you are couponing right, your sub total tends to be pretty small... the binders being an exception.

Thanks. This coming month will be challenging for me to use Ink on Staples FAR. I have $120 in Staples rewards (includes 60 in Ink recycling rewards) that I have to use over next 2 months and cash out (just Plus - but $50 away from Premier).

Everyone, what do you say to the cashier/manager if they get suspicious on you when you buy several VR cards and ask you "what are you doing with this card?".
My experience, I bought 2 cards and got asked like that, I said I need it for traveling since I don't like to bring credit cards. The cashier said yea yea (not convinced) and told me to swipe my CC. But I am sure if I went back and buy VR often to meet the minimum spending the cashier will remember me and get suspicious and trying to limit it.

Oh dear, went to the local bean store today and went to shake the beans out of the tree and was told if I don't have cash then I don't get to have any beans...... This has been my store for ages never a problem at all. Going back tomorrow to see if it's the cashier who is the grumpy (today) compared to one that's nicer on Mondays. They did move all the beans to the counter area, they used to be in the gc display. Hope it's not dried up for me here.
