PP Biz Debit Card: 1% cashback is for non-PIN transactions. Not sure of the benefit here, apart from paying taxes.
I buy a few things using credit, buy a MO with pin, buy some things with pin and get some cash back, send some money to my spouse. Just mix it up. I've been going strong since november. Programs with online bill pay are better, but the ones I know all have limits, this adds another 4K/month to the Manufacturing. fees are low. |
Cost of 48K reloads = $379.20, 2% bonus = $960, profit = $580.80/year. Bonus greater than 2% would help. Nevertheless the PP card is better than MVD for paying taxes, so assuming no hard credit pull I'll probably get, since 1% cashback covers the cost of the reloads.

FYI - The 1% is only on signature purchases, not PIN

Not disputing how PayPal awards the rebate - I just think they haven't updated their plan in light of the changes. Here's a calculator: http://www.cardfellow.com/blog/debit...ulator-durbin/ |

Shouldn't there be no difference fee-wise with Durbin? AFAIK, a debit card is a debit card as far as fees are concerned under Durbin, so PIN or sig or internet keyed shouldn't matter.

Given that's it's a 'reward' program and not a fee, I don't know that it would be at all affected by Durbin. They could update their program but they don't have any pressing need to.
So, in theory, there should be no reason to differentiate, except that they haven't updated the program since the change. |
PAYPAL HERE: waiving all CC fees for 2013!
wow... this is a crazy bold move by PAYPAL... no fees on all credit card processing for the year!!! talk about competition.
http://venturebeat.com/2013/05/14/pa...sing-for-2013/ Curious about the possibilities... anyone have ideas how to leverage Paypal Here yet? https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/credit-card-reader |
The merchant will need to have an existing account, and show that they did have existing hardware. It's available to "qualifying" U.S. merchants.
Still... sounds promising... I'm not in the US; can someone else dig a little? |
I am sure Paypal with its infinite scrutiny will only give these out to verified merchants. Not guys like us, who would panic with a couple of thousand dollars held for a few days for verification.
Probably trying to take on the higher end market originally pioneered by Square. |

Even if you could get away churning with this, why would you? You will have to pay income tax on it.

Seems that Netspend reloads (or locations) can fund PayPal pre-paid cards. Anyone have any luck paying with debit cards? Visa/MC Gift Cards (w. PIN) > NetSpend > PayPal would be a big time saver.
