Anyone know the fee to have them mail a check of the remaining balance, and how long it'll usually take?

U want remaining balance mailed to you? why not CA?

I was charged $1.95 for doing CA at Chase last week. Not a PIN-based transaction. Previous CA transaction fee was only $0.50 each. Look like I will revert back to buying MOs.

That has been the fee for quite some time.

AND $1.50 is insignificant when you are CAing the max amount ($10k).

True, that amount has always been listed since the beginning. But in the past, I've always been charged $0.50 for each transaction, until recently.
No biggie, just posting as some recent data point. They probably fixed changed their software to properly code transactions.

Good for you if you're able to do the max. Personally, I don't feel comfortable enough to leave that much float with them. Or risking SARs getting filled out by the bank.

I wouldn't feel comfortable NOT maxing this bad boy out.

Plus I am not actually sure SARs get filled out for Cash Advances but they could be filled out for depositing a $2 bill so....

Strange. I never saw the .50 charge. For a while, it was free. Then I started getting the 1.95 charge. Now I'm too risk averse with them, since they technically shut me down once.

Out of the US for a while

So twice now, regarding two different Incomm products, I've had the Incomm representative confirm my home address and then tell me that there is a problem because Incomm sent a check to that address and shows that it has been cashed.

The first time I heard this, I was put off a bit. No one steals my mail. Ever. It's not even really possible unless someone is mugging the mailwoman. And I think the USPS would tell me if that happened and they suspected my mail was gone. Later in the conversation, because I persevered, Incomm relented and said they'd never actually sent the check (this was a PayPal refund).

The second time they suggested this, I realized that it was just total BS. This was with my MVD. So I played along, told them it couldn't be so, asked what bank cashed the checks, etc. No answers.

Now I get it. This is just a step in the institutionalized Incomm BS playbook.

Anyone else get this gem of a line from Incomm?

Wow, that's mind-blowing, even for Incomm. Don't play Incomm's games. File a complaint with the FDIC detailing Incomm's wrongdoing, and your refund check will arrive within days.

Yeah. It's time already.

Did you use this form?

https://www2.fdic.gov/starsmail/index.asp

And Bancorp as the FDIC institution?

A recording of the soap opera would have taken this to the next level.
You know they are going to most likely deny it or (at best) blame it on a rogue CSR.

Additional data point.
I went to check my account today and I couldn't log in. I called and at first they were stumped as they didn't even see the card as a registered card. After a long hold they found that the card had been fully closed by Compliance (not just no longer active) and check will be issued for the $8 remaining balance. Not quite the same story as most of the FT folk reports here but the same end result.

I don't know why I wasn't shut down when this all started (as ever since they announced the end of the Surpass 6x for VR I'd been doing $20k load and unload - I went at it aggressively as I had no attachment to this card, I'm not an aggressive miles hacker otherwise) but my pattern was to never exceed a balance of $8k and never unload an amount that equaled the load amount (so unload $5,995 off a $6k balance etc.). Early on I did have some high credit card spend on the card so they may have a counter of 'profitability' that carried me for a while. Once the card was truly just load and unload that counter would have gone. I'm guessing they don't consider the ACH fee as adequate compared to say 3-4% of say a high spend.

It was good while it lasted and allowed me to pretty much max out HH points with Surpass while that was running. I think I'll wait a month or so and try to open another card and see what happens.

FDIC complaint filed. Seems to be greasing the wheels over there.

As to the double and bizarre story, I think there's actually a good explanation and one that sheds some light on the wonderful and brilliant Incomm:

Even though I have been calling in to the MVD number and entering my MVD account number at the phone prompts, their system seems to be bringing up my PayPal problem with them. Presumably, there's only one call center for all of their various products. You don't reach a specific MVD group. So the crazy comments about "do you live with people who are stealing your mail" only pertained to one check that they claim was cashed.

In fact, by the way, the check was cashed. By me. Before I requested the check that I claim I'm missing. Their ability to understand dates in a chronological order is seriously impaired. As is their ability to distinguish between one product of theirs and another.

But, hey, we all thrive on how pathetic their operating environment is. So I guess I can't really complain.
