Connecting in FRA with Kids
Hi -
I will be travelling to from Tel-Aviv to Singapore through Frankfurt with Lufthansa.
The flight to Frankfurt usually arrives at Terminal 1B BUS and the flight to Singapore leaves from gate Z#.
I will be travelling with my 3 kids, and only have 1:35 hours between the flights.
How far are the gates (arrival < departure)? is it doable with kids? do we need to go through security at any time during the transfer?
are you familiar with any electric buggy service I can order / use or any specific airport services to speed to process?
Thank you
Alon

Maybe it would be useful to mention how old your kids are?

There's only so much you can do.... But with 1:35 you should be fine if you follow the signs and go to the departure gate a.s.a.p.
You can read NewbieRunner's excellent thread on FRA transfers as well: http://bit.ly/RJESfV

You should be fine. If you need assistance or feel unsure, please see if the family service is an option for you: http://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/Lufth...Family-Service
Make sure the stroller you take along is very small. That way you can take it onboard and not surrender it at boarding. Waiting for the stroller to appear often takes 10-15 minutes in FRA and may reduce your transit time unnecessarily.@:-)

My kids would not be happy with such a short layover. No time to eat and to take a bath in the F lounge...

Frankfurt 50 Minutes Layover - Enough time?
Tomorrow My sister-in-law and two young girls (6 and 8) is flying from Billund Denmark (BLL) through Frankfurt to JFK.
She has 50 minutes to get from the first flight to the second. The last time I flew that I had to probably walk a mile and go through passport control. I recall coming in an A gate and running over to a Z gate.
Anyone think this is going to be an issue? I called Lufthansa and they said I can pay $100 to have someone meet her at the gate, but it may not be a cart to get them there, rather, a person to walk with them. My concern is the person will not be there when she lands and she will wind up wasting more time.
Any thoughts?
thanks,
Mike

It is a question if they will arrive to jetway or an outside position. In both cases, they will arrive to terminal A and if the plane goes from Z, it is just a floor up. It is easy to go from A to Z. In case they are late, LH is good to have a separate (mini)bus with next flight information to drive them directly to the flight.

Minimum connection is 45 Minutes.
If you doubt she will not make it, you still can try to rebook the flight BLL-FRA to an earlier departure...

Last time I was through FRA was in April and I had over an hour to connect to another flight - we parked at a remote stand, bus drove us to the terminal - that took a good 10 minutes, if not more - and then they drop you off at the terminal, however, you are not post-security - you have to go through security and then head to your gate. For a mother with 2 young children, it would be very tight if the flight from BLL lands on time and if it arrives late, then they'll miss the connecting flight for sure. I'm not sure what a guide can help with - unless they can get them through the fast lane that LH uses for its elites - if the service includes that, I'd use it, otherwise, it's no use. But on the bright side, LH is good about reaccommodating passengers - there will be other flights to JFK and both LH and their partner United also fly to EWR, so I'm confident they'll be able to get to New York. Obviously, the less stress involved, the better when you're traveling with 2 young kids.

I think coming from BLL, she will land and have to take a bus. going over there I went from FRA to BLL and at FRA had to take a bus over to the plane to BLL. I guess she is going to have to do that too coming from BLL.
Just trying to figure out what she needs to do and explain to her.
thanks,

According to LH.com tomorrow's LH839 from BLL is expected to arrive at A34 and LH404 to JFK is expected to depart from Z58. Although the gates can change on the day, especially the arrival gate, your sister-in-law and the two girls can expect to walk at least 1km (with some walkways) between the two gates.
I have marked A34 (red circle) and Z58 (blue circe) on this map. Z58 is one level above but occupies the same position as A58 on the map.
From their arrival gate they will have to go to the central area where the old and new piers meet to go through passport control (and possibly document check) go up one level to Z and walk to the departure gate. There might be an additional passport control above gate A26 but I'm not certain if it is open. They should follow the signs for their departure gate and move as quickly as possible. If the flight from BLL is a bus arrival they will be dropped nearer the central area and should have less to walk.

Hello everyone!
The next 28th of July I've got a flight to SFO with connection in Frankfurt.
I've read some messages of this thread and also I downloaded the FRA Airport App and even studied maps of the airport But I still have some doubts... Hope you can help me!
My complete itinerary is MAD-FRA-SFO (MAD-FRA is flight LH1121 and FRA-SFO is LH454)
1)I have 1h and 35 minutes to do the connection, it's enought?
2) I've seen that flight LH1121 usually arrives at A-pier, in Brigde gates or Bus Gates. Do I have to go throught security check to go to Z-gates? Or only a Passport Control? (Flight LH454 departs from Z-gates, or that's what I've read)
3)There's any problem with mobile boarding pass and Passport controls? I read something about they put a sticker on you boarding pass or even they stamp it! I need to use the mobile boarding pass because I can't print it.
4)Lufthansa's Quick Boarding works with a mobile boarding pass? I think yes, but I don't know
Sorry if this questions are a little bit dumb... My first in such a big trip!
Thank you very much!
