Lol. So true. Wonder why they heat their cabins so much.

As you said, the current chance is 10 of 27. Until the end of the year, another three go (D-ABTA,TB,TC), so the OP might have a 10 out of 24 chance.

January 2013, D-ABVC follows...

(according to the current Lufthanseat)

The first post therefore could be amended, that 3 747s have left the fleet by now and another 3 will be leaving the fleet during 2012.

Got D-AIHQ from PEK yesterday. Great feeling to be on the new F. My impressions were:

- Large and very comfortable seats, also in bed mode.
- Nice design everywhere, small things well thought.
- Nice restroom, even though abit small to change in.
- Good service, lunch with everything was excellent. Dinner on the other hand was not good (chinese catering).
- Loosy amenity kit, with no good cosmetics inside (LX gives La Prairie, just as a comparison)
- Nice screen, but sadely the IFE was not working... Only 10 movies were running in loop.

Trip report will follow in the next weeks.

The contents of the amenity kit are really nothing to write home about. The women's Bogners are actually cute, LX gives La Prairie, TG gives you a bucket of Hermes eau de toilette, and LH gives you bags and cologne by a glorified portable hard disk and DVD recorder manufacturer.

According to http://klarhorst.com/Liste.htm, http://lh-taufnamen.de/lufthansa and http://www.airfleets.net/flottecie/L...ctive-b747.htm, only two 747s (D-ABVA and D-ABVB) left the fleet so far this year, leaving 28 in service. If you know otherwise please let me know and I will update the first post.

Look at the latest issue of the Lufthanseat (LH Employee magazine - the link was posted yesterday) They describe in detail how many have left the fleet, how the retirement of the aircraft work and what the upcoming retirement plans are.
Also, the April LH magazine (always handy in your seat pocket ) only counts 27 B747-400 in the fleet currently.

According to "http://klarhorst.com/Liste.htm"" D-ABVC who received already the new F will leave the fleet in january 2013; why did LH bother to upgrade the plane, that's just a waste of money?

Yep I know - I was asking exactly the same question a few pages back.

might do IAD-FRA-BRU this friday/saturday (a343 flight). is LH F (even old F) worth it over UA F IAD-BRU?

trying to maximize the experience.

Why is the A380 not included in the OP? Is it because all A380s have been converted to new F?

Were upstream posters referencing new F on A380 not understanding this bit of knowledge which lucky writes: "Lufthansa actually has two 'new' first class products, the other of which can be found on their Airbus aircraft, including the Airbus 380 I flew from Frankfurt to Tokyo a couple of months ago." Or perhaps they were accidentally being ambiguous? Or perhaps, Randy-forbid, lucky was wrong?

50% of MUC-based A340s have the new F but they are mostly flying to the 8 destinations listed in the first post. However, they do fly to other destinations from time to time. Keep your fingers crossed!
