I think the majority of the time, LH402/403 is new F.

It has been in June at least but for some reason, not today.

I have what is probably a pretty silly question about the information displayed on the flight24 and flightradar24 sites. Tomorrow I'm taking the SFO-MUC flight in first class and I am just trying to check if it will have the new F (obviously once the flight leaves MUC tomorrow).

Here's my issue. The flight history has a line that says:
"LH458 was flown on 2012-07-02 by D-AIHW (A346). Watch on Flightradar24"

There is also a link that says:
"DLH458 is flying right now, see it live here: www.flightradar24.com/DLH458"

When you go to see it live, it has the reg. as D-AIHR. So which is correct? The first statement says the flight was flown on July 2nd by AIHW, but today is July 2nd. I've never used these sites before, so am I just missing something very basic here?

All times on flight24.com are CET. LH458 departs MUC at 16:05 CET and arrives in SFO at 19:00 PST which is 04:00 CET the following day. LH459 departs SFO at 21:05 PST (06:05 CET the following day) and arrives in MUC at 17:10. I think this complicates the matter when you want to check which a/c flew which route on a given day.

Unless I read the diagram incorrectly when checking in for my BKK-FRA and FRA-EWR flights, it seemed that the July 3 BKK-FRA and July 4 FRA-EWR only had 8 seat options. So, it looks good.

As LH only sells 8 First Class seats on the 744, the seatmap shows only 8 seats whether the aircraft has been retrofitted or not. According to data.flight24.com LH772 arriving in BKK on July 3 (and flies back to FRA later today) appears to be D-AVBT which is not one of the 744s with the new F cabin.

Better luck with LH402 tomorrow!

Each passenger gets two seats. The flight attendent will ask you which seat you would like to have made into a bed and will put the bedding on that seat.

Every F passenger gets two seats! One to use as a seat and another as a bed - in theory anyway.

BTW according to Frankfurt Airport's website tomorrow's LH402 will be operated by D-ABVM so it looks like you may be in luck. ^

LH402 FRA-EWR will have DABVM tomorrow, looks like LH403 EWR-FRA will turn right back with the same airplane.

I'm flying LH403 tomorrow, I'm the only one on the seat map, feel free to come and say hi if you are flying too.

Just checked Frankfurt Airport's website, 7/4 LH403 is definitely a D-ABVM, have fun

Are these the "special" 744s equipped for Himalayas overflights? Or are those only on FRA-HKG?

I think that so long as your flight to MUC is on a 340, you min have a chance (check history, though). But I think no routes are guaranteed yet, except some premium routes like FRA-SIN. Even JFK is hit and miss (though probably because there are like 4-5 daily flights with EWR included, they just can't cover the equipment).

IAD-FRA is on a 748... why not try that no beds in F, though...
