Does anyone have a picture of a meal (or meal + breakfast) in longhaul Y (9 hours+)?

Take a look at post #236 for my Y experience on my way back from NRT. Wouldn't expect it to differ much from what you will have, except for the "goodie bag" maybe.

My secret hope had been that travel would at least be totally peaceful during this period. And I really have to say, all kids have been excellent, as have been the parents. So, no complaints or rants here from me! Of course, one never knows why people need to travel, with or without kids.

Luck of the draw when it comes to how kids will behave and whether the parents will make any attempt to quieten them or simply let them run riot.
There are so many reasons why people travel. Life goes on: essential work, new jobs, relocations, funerals, etc etc.

Special meals will be available again from November 25.

I am glad they got some slack.

In this instance gate checking the three big bags would have been the smarter option by far.

The kid was old enough to walk, and did so. Dad had to drag all the wheelie bags onto the bus; take several trips up and down the aircraft stairs to get them on board; and then squeeze them into overheads and lockers. What for? They did not need the stroller or the contents of the bags during the flight.

Why not? Healthy kids have nothing to fear from COVID-19, nor is travel that dangerous. They are much likelier to drown in the bathtub at home (really!).

I've been far more impressed with all the elderly I've seen traveling. Walked past B0 (Italian health screening) at AMS on Monday. At the entrance I saw one of those six-seater mobility assistance cart, with passengers in various stages of decrepitude being processed. Then at the far end there was another one!

Flying out of AMS on Tuesday, there were three wheelchair pax on the plane. There's been at least one on just about every pandemic flight I've taken, usually more. That includes pax who are truly wheelchair-bound, i.e. have to be lifted in and out, need special seat cushions on the plane, etc.

Maybe most are traveling for pressing reasons, but definitely not all. There are those going on vacation among them.

And leisure.

There's no reason why the healthy should not travel for leisure, and plenty of reasons why they should. Airlines need every single passenger they can get; hotels every guest; restaurants and bars every patron. Plus, it is fun. And, it is so much more fun and so much more relaxing now that mass tourism has taken a break.

Yes, there are plenty. Virus spread is a function of human mobility. Is this really today's sentiment that the healthy only need to worry about their own health but may ignore the negative consequences of their actions for third parties?

So should everybody stay at home until 2022 or a vaccine/cure is available?
If someone is at risk and don't want to travel they shouldn't, if they so feel inclined to they can stay at home and never leave, have food etc. delivered, sanitize it at the door and what not.

The only reason why someone shouldn't travel is because it seems the more the virus spread the more governments are inclined to impose measures that limits movement of people and hurts the economy, on the other staying at home probably doesn't support the (travel) economy either.

Got that world-famous evergreen again, but with a twist in the form of some mini baked crackers, allegedly pizza flavored (how many pizza flavors are there?). The dessert has been the same for a month now, so no new menu sticker.

I would have killed for that meal on my last domestic Delta One flight! Glad to see that KLM still hasn't dropped standards so drastically.

The snack yesterday from Lisbonne - AMS was meh, but with full range of beverages on offer. Sandwich was stale and the cookie wasn't good at all. I don't normally fly KLM so I will just assume this is 'normal' for a intra-Europe flight. Service was surly when the attendants had to be out, and then non-existent when they just went to the back and drew the curtain to chat the rest of the flight.

That doesn't look that bad for short-haul economy; at least KLM is somewhat trying. The crew may not have been the nicest but you state they provided a full beverage service.

A bit of monkey business on the CDG-AMS flight, a welcome change from the idiotic spartan nature of very short Air France flights. I was offered 4 cognacs and a Bols Genever, which was great, but unfortunately gin just makes me feel terrible..wish I knew why.

The strangest thing happened to me during today's CDG-AMS flight. Being a short-haul EU flight (is there any shorter feeder flight than this other than BRU-AMS?), and flying in Y, I was not expecting much - especially after flying mostly AF for the past 3 months.

When FAs started roaming down the aisle, I was expecting a dumb form to fill. Lo and behold, they came one once, not twice, but three time.
And what they brought was... breathtaking to say the least. Individually-packaged gel (actually useful to fight covid). Food. Drinks. With bubbles, adult beverage, and hot drinks available. I started to doubt my eyes when they came back for coffee refills before landing.

Thumbs up to KL. This is how you do business in a challenging situation, this is how you bring back customers.

To all fellow flyers, especially from France: if you have the choice, know that KL and AF offer are nothing alike these days. Pick your birds carefully!

Good to see that they have resume service on this sector back to normal times. Even under pre-pandemic situation, KL was always much better in onboard service and seating (Eco+ for eligible pax) while AF only had beverage service and no Eco+/preferred seating like KLM.
Although in J, it was the opposite (if I remember correctly), AF was much better.
Cheers!
