Anybody's guess, I suppose.

They have no doubt cut KLM Catering Services Schiphol to the bone, leaving them with a skeleton staff producing two kinds of shorthaul J meals and pared-down longhaul meals on a simplified assembly line. Adding special meals and thus complexity is something they most likely want to avoid for as long as possible. Since everybody knows that special meals are especially virus prone, they have a good excuse.

LOL :)

Thanks!

The Golden Oldie Caesar salad is still there, served at 9.30 a.m. AMS - LIS. Makes sense, given that I was served breakfast at 12.30 p.m. last week.

This one came with a new dessert (and a new sticker on the menu), advertised as apple pie, but closer to apple crumble. Very crumbly, made for messy eating.

I also got served breakfast at 1230 PM on Tuesday. Would have appreciated a crumbly apple pie instead of a bun.

This catering situation at KLM is never changing back. People are still flying this stingy airline, so why should they change back to anything close to normal... They don’t have any valid reasons for this inedible food and drinks, when other European airlines are serving as they did prior to the pandemic, but it doesn’t matter. As long as they cut cost they don’t give a sh****t.

That meal still looks fairly decent

It actually is fairly decent, even though that roll is as fresh as it looks, i.e. not very. If you eat everything in the box, the quantity is quite sufficient as well.

Yes, the meal itself was fine in terms of quantity and quality, for a cold service. It simply would have been better suited to an 8 am flight.. not an afternoon journey.

Infinitely better than the lack of service KL partner DL has on domestic flights now

KL791 AMS-GRU J class
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...669a361bf8.jpg
Main meal : 2 day old dry salad (did not even considered eating it), veggies with terrible soft chicken lunch (more suitable for my 7yrs son elementary school lunch than 11h25 business class flight), dessert was good.
No welcome drink nor nuts were proposed. Wine came only by individual bottle, with poor choice.

2nd meal : veggie and cheese quiche, cabbage salad, apple pie

Maestro Ramen Sep 15, 2020 7:31 pm

Had exactly the same meal composition on AMS-CUR on September 12th, though the salad was fresh. You might have had our leftovers if your flight was 2 days later :-)

It surprised me that for some reason they were not allowed to serve a warm apple pie and instead, served it cold. The quiche in the same meal service was warm though, so not sure what the issue has been. Looking at your pics I assume that your apple pie hasn't been in the oven neither, given that it is still in plastic.

You beat me to it by a day.

I'm not sure if this is route specific or a general change. Compared to the other breakfast the bread is a step up, and everything else a downgrade. That sugary fruit yoghurt is not my thing, and the grapes numbered exactly four.

Yes, but it was only one of several salads, and every once in a while a new one would come along.

They just keep on innovating!

The Caesar salad is still going strong, but this afternoon it came with yet another new dessert: apricot cake! Somebody must have been really busy sticking new stickers on the menus. Just as crumbly as the apple one.

Purser mentioned that catering changes are afoot, but did not go into detail.
