Fabulous news for all WBC passengers: your meals will henceforth be produced by a robot!

Story here (in Dutch).

Thanks for the link.
Let's celebrate: the change is touted as a cost-cutting/yield improvement measure, and not Covid-related-for-your-safety-bullc**p!

CGK-BKK-AMS

KL 876 in business class. Some observations: from CKG to BKK only a box with some bread and water. From BKK to AMS offered a welcome drink. Hot meal with salmon entree, choice between penne pasta or chicken. Breakfast choice between sweet or savory (egg). This was already a big improvement compared to my previous AMS-BKK- CKG trip.

Pax boarding in Jakarta were not offered an amenity kit, only passengers embarking in BKK.

Also inflight music entertainment was pared back: no cd juke box, only 10 podcasts and 7 or 8 concert registrations.

KLM last weekend, from Napels to Amsterdam.
14 out of 16 in Europe Business on a 737-800, behind the curtain also nearly full house.

Naples Airport fasttrack for security was closed and also a closed VIP lounge.

Onboard a great crew, I was feeling good. Immediately after take off a food box was given, the purser said it’s a delicious couscous salad with falafel. I admit, it was a good salad and well presented :tu:

Got the well known cheap Sparkling Wine, and was not given a second because they were out of stock.
White AND red wines also out of stock. I was offered the economy class white wine instead, but refused.
I went for G&T and a vodka beverage this time.

Not so amused by this very limited drink service on a rather long(er) European flight (2H30-2H45)

The irony here is that they could actually persuasively argue that using a robot means that fewer virus-infested humans will come anywhere near those delicious WBC meals. I trust the robot is smart enough to wash its hands regularly and thoroughly.

I have no idea how much food preparation that robot actually does, as opposed to just packaging and sorting items and placing them on trays, but a sophisticated and clever robot might just improve food quality, or at least ensure greater consistency at the desired quality level.

Well everybody knows that jukeboxes are a terrible source of contagion, what with all those staggering drunk unmasked music lovers pressing all the buttons with unwashed fingers, shoving dirty coins down the slot, leaving filthy palm prints all over the machine and drooling at the prospect of listening to their favorite music tracks?

KLM should be highly commended for taking decisive steps to save the world by removing these diabolical and pestilential machines from their aircraft!

Safety first!

To quote Governor Cuomo, "And if everything we do saves just one life, I’ll be happy” . He must be pleased as punch!

And robots wouldn't have a bad attitude like some KL crew

I am sure someone knows how to replicate the face like a bulldog sucking a wasp look and stomp around making loud noise while everyone tries to sleep.

Yesterday’s flight J class from YVR-AMS. Had low expectation but was definitely a good surprise to see the meal service was not bad at all. KLM’s international long haul J class service is pleasant as usual.

Just wanted to comment I've flew AMS-CUR today, and the catering was pretty much what I would have expected from KLM prior to covid ( make of that what you will ;) ). There were still some limitations, only one red and white wine it seems ( I was told there was no choice for the white at least ). But the meals where fine, snacks were available in the galleys throughout the flight, and crew were happy to get more drinks etc on demand at any point. A cheese sandwich was distributed mid flight, with a burger as the second meal. All in all, it felt pretty normal.

This downgrade is actually good news, taking into account how inedible was the rice or pasta or whatever they used to offer.

Finally got the (in)famous caesar salad. Not too bad all things considered, I can see how it can get bland after a while though.
I wonder what a vegetarian meal would look like these days... a caesar salad without chicken maybe ?

P.S No stickers on the menu!

Different everything this time!

So the meal was fine but... I'm not sure this is what I needed with a 6:40am departure...
