Just to kick start a wiki, with answers to frequent questions.
1. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. NGO-HNL is booked in business class, but HND-NGO is in economy. Will we still get the baggage allowance as if we're flying business class the whole way?
A: Yes. written here (link)
2. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. Will we have lounge access in HND?
A. Definitely, within the lounge access rules of course. written here (link)

I'm on JL 726 NRT-CGK, Y, AA codeshare.

Called in at 7 days before to change seat assignment. JL agent stated that Y is overbooked by 20+. I have seat assignment as of now.

EF shows C4 J4 D2 X4 I0 Y0 W0 E0 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 7 days out.

2 questions:
1) What are my chances for opup as OW emerald, no JMB status?
2) My travel plans are somewhat flexible. What is a reasonable compensation (if any) to expect from JAL for VDB? Thank you.

Things to know for first SkySuites flight with JAL

I'm about to take my first (ever) JAL flight which will be in 8J NRT-HEL on a SS8-equipped 787.

As this is my first time both in NRT and flying on JAL can I confirm a few things?

1. I see there's a mattress pad offering on SS8 - does this imply that Pajamas are passed out in business class ? Slippers? - can these be kept as I've seen references to passing them back and so forth.

2. Did I understand correctly that you order meals, drinks etc via the IFE system or is there anything unusual about JALs in-cabin processes or customs to someone used to European and US airlines biz/first?

3. NRT is only a transfer airport although we will overnight there and therefore go through check-in & security there. Is there a dedicated biz/first security area for JAL pax? Should I be doing anything like reserving Spa appointments etc at check-in desks? (I'm a OWE so will be using the First Class lounge)?

4. We will have an infant with us in NRT - are strollers available at NRT or should we plan to keep out stroller with us and gate-check it at the gate?

... and generally is there anything else I should do to make sure I maximise the experience and/or enjoy anything especially characteristic of JAL.

(for example, drink LPGS/JW Blue in CCR on BA, have an ice cream sundae on AA(?!?),have the tasting menu on QF, massage in BKK and golf cart escort on TG. etc....

1. You definitely get slippers. I have also gotten a pullover / pajama top but no pants / bottoms.

2. You can order through the IFE. I usually just call the flight attendant. My experience with long hauls is there is a traditional first meal service--there is no set second meal service; you order whenever you want.

3. There is a dedicated fast track at NRT. When you get to the lounge, make sure you put yourself down on the list if you want a 15 min massage.

4. Don't know the answer to this.

The cardigan is for use during the flight only. It should be returned.

If you ask nicely they usually will allow you.or just say you don't want to be cold on your domestic flight next.

Great, so normal meal, but use the IFE *or* call the FA for any other food - check.

so no pajamas but some form of 'cardigan' - which is to be returned -slightly odd but 'check'

I've seen mention of TUMI amenity kits elsewhere in connection with JAL - or are these only for F flights - what is the 'amenity kit situation' on SS8 J ?

Yes, they recently (i.e., late last year) introduced Tumi kits in business.

Hi there. I will be soon flying F on Cathay Pacific from HND to HKG. Am I eligible to enter JAL First Class Lounge in HND?

is there a fee to change an award ticket? Specifically on Bangkok Airway redemption. For example, from BKK-SIN to BKK-KUL.

According to this page, answer seems to be No, or at least it's seemingly not mentioned. According to this page specifically about Bangkok Airways redemption, cancel fee is specified but no mention of change fee.
