The hotel is centrally located. What IAN-UK was saying that Bucharest is not a good European holiday city, or at least not in a good location for holiday purpose in Europe.

As I said, It's fine hotel, and it's right in the centre of the city, on the bus route from the airport and next to a metro station. I love it - but I have work-related reasons to be there. The city itself isn't at all spectacular, with not much to entertain the tourist for longer than a day or so. To be honest, it's a bit dreary: after you've walked round Lipscani, the "old town", and seen Ceauşescu's "Peoples House" you might be stuck for things to do.

On the other hand, Romania itself is a wonderful country to visit.

But if you are looking to explore Romania, you should remember it is a very large country, transport infrastructure isn't the best, and Bucharest isn't at all central in geographical terms. The Danube delta, the Black Sea coast and Transylvania/the mountains are the usual tourist targets.

Thanks for the reply. Transylvania appeals as does the old town. Was thinking of booking a two night stay.

It looks like the only hotel in Europe that could be of use to me is the CP Bratislava. But even then it is not such a coup, as the Park Inn is only 9K Club Carlson points. And the Doubletree is only 10K HH points. However, the CP is much closer to the gay club and the gay bar in town. And they seem to treat Platinums quite well there. (The hotel, not the gay club )

Have fun if you go but Transylvania is far from the city, pity to stay in Bucharest better to book a hotel in that region. There is not much to the old town

Any idea of when the deals should be up? I'm still seeing the one hotel I want to book sitting at 25K points.

Yep, it's live but the main PointBreaks site hasn't been updated yet. Try the links in this post and you should start seeing the 5,000 point award inventory: http://community.ihg.com/t5/Promotio...aks/td-p/27691
