Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

Is My Elite Rate considered to be an eligible rate for DSU? One check-in agent I asked yesterday insisted NO!

Your question should really be in the MER thread but, yes, it certainly is eligible. You should email Hyatt's consumer affairs with the agent's name. Seven months in and these mistakes shouldn't be happening.

Used an DSU at the HR Montreal. Confirmed suite was an Executive Suite and that is the suite that I received.

Once a particular hotel has been mentioned in the Wiki, is it the objective that those who come later also state their experiences?

Data point - Grand Hyatt HK

Attempted to use a DSU on a cash and points booking and was told not available. But DSU would be available on an all-cash booking though.

Tried at least 5 agents already with the same response. A reservations agent from the hotel also told me the same thing.

Good Morning doesun,

While I cannot make any promises without specifics, I have been advised from Gold Passport management that these situations are being scrutinized and we're working to fix them. If Cash + Points is available and the suite type used for Diamond Suite Upgrades is available, it should be available for Cash + Points + Diamond Suite Upgrade. Could you kindly PM me the reservation details so I may have a look?

Warm regards,

Evan V

I had the same issue for 2 months, I just kept on calling every few days and eventually it cleared.

Same thing here on 3 occasions requesting a DSU at 3 different Hyatt properties, 2 of them a Cash + Points, the other My Elite Rate.

Was told not available with either rate type, which I know from past experience is not the case with the MER...

I can understand availability issues, but to be told point blank it is not available due to the rate is a concern.

Maybe they've reached the cap for cash+point? The property is going through renovation which reduces the number of rooms available.

Last month i was able to make cash+point+dsu reservation at this property.

I'm trying to add a DSU to a night at the Park Chicago. Hyatt.com shows the entry level suite - a park suite - available for purchase, but HGP phoned the property and the property says they do not availability for that night.

Is DSU availability limited, unlike using points for a base room where the policy is if you can book it for money you can use your points?

No they have not, I currently have a cash and points reservation, just that I am not allowed to apply a DSU. However, if I book a paid rate, then I am allowed to apply a DSU.

Yes...PH Chicago is one of the more difficult properties to use a DSU. When it's available, it still takes about 15-20 minutes for costumer service to clear it with the property.

Interestingly, I just used a DSU on a September stay at PH Chicago and received the upgrade to a Grand Executive Suite. I've stayed in this tier of suite before and it is appreciably nicer than the Park Suite (e.g., the views are of Water Tower and the Lakefront).

I hope this signals a new policy at this property; if it does, this property earns back my business (14 nights/year) from the Mag Mile property.
