Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

But Hyatt wants to showcase its Diamond status to those on challenge (and not just gaming the system). DSU is a significant feature for Diamonds and is quite unique amongst competitors. But I think they should cancel remaining DSU after the challenge failed.

I bet they agree but haven't found it worth the effort to execute this in practice.

Having recently participated in the challenge, my experience using a DSU during the challenge period was a significant consideration in my decision to actually complete the challenge after the stay.

Not a forensic analysis but on the Frequent Flyer Australia Facebook group people outrightly admit to signing up for the Diamond Trial with absolutely no intention of qualifying.

28 days worth of suite upgrades is a significant benefit, and why I stay with Hyatt.

Hyatt must evaluate the percentage of attrition and change as see fit, or they may be limited by their antiquated IT infrastructure.

Oh I agree even here on FT, there are people who ask about this all the time. My argument to Hyatt would be that yes the suite upgrades is a significant benefit but if the challenge was not completed usage of the suite upgrades later is not likely to drive anymore future business to the chain.

Question - Suppose you want to get a suite using the DSU and you want to book the room on P+C, if the base room isn't available but the suite is, can you still do it?

I'm sure it varies by hotel as inventory for P+C is ultimately up to each hotel, but I was able to do just as you said for the Andaz 5th. No standard room available on P+C, but P+C with DSU was available.

That's really interesting - I'm surprised you were able to do this. It makes great sense in theory but I can see many other chains looking at this very situation and saying no space available. Another example of very good customer service.

You can add this to the list:

1. Name and location of hotel - HYATT DONGGUAN - DONGGUAN CHINA

2. Suite type (and link of room from hyatt.com individual property page if possible) REGENCY EXECUTIVE SUITE KING
http://dongguan.regency.hyatt.com/en...oms/suite.html (4th suite down on list)

3. # of Sq Ft - 442 SQ FEET (SAYS 135 SQ M ON SITE -DID THE COVNERSION)

4. # of Bedrooms (Studio/Jr/1/2) and # of Bathrooms (1/1.5/2) 1 BEDROOM, 1 LIVING ROOM , 1 DINING ROOM, A 1/2 BATH IN FOYER AND FULL BATH OFF THE BEDROOM WITH BOTH STANDUP SHOWER, SEP BATH AND 2 SINKS... ALSO A HUGE PATIO WITH 2 ENTRANCES TO IT.

5. Were you happy with the upgrade? What grade would you give it (A/B/C/D/F) A++++

6. Any other info (location/view/relative price vs normal rooms/etc) and pics if you want THEY MENTIONED THEY USUALLY GIVE THE "REGENCY SUITE KING" AS THE UPGRADE, BUT GIVE THIS MUCH LARGER SUITE IF ITS YOUR FIRST UPGRADE....WHICH IT IS FOR ME.

It is a homerun for sure!

!
FYI - 1 sq metre = 1 x 1 m = 3.3 x 3.3 ft = 9.9 sq ft

Therefore 135 sq m = +/- 1340 sq ft

Wrong.

1 meter = 3.2808399 feet

1 sq meter = 3.2808399 x 3.2808399 = 1076.3904 sq feet

If you round it of to 1 m = 3.3 ft

Your answer should have been 3.3 x 3.3 ft = 10.89 sq ft. Not 9.9 sq ft

So 135 sq m = 1470 sq ft Not 1340 sq ft

I think that extra 130 sq feet is the foyer size

Since we've all got too much time on our hands. It would be 10.9. You can only have 1 significant figure if you're starting with 3.3.

(At least I hope I've remembered my analytical chem teachings....)
