I have lucked out with this on my last Conrad BB and Conrad Maldives stays. Earned nearly enough points on spend to book the next trip, and will likely keep the cycle going.

9 night stay in November

Completed a nine night stay in November. Booked 6 award nights in a standard over water villa and booked the last 3 nights in a Superior Villa. Arrived around 11:00am and was escorted directly to the villa (no mention of upgrade options). After two nights, went to the front desk and asked about upgrade opportunities and was offered an upgrade to Superior Water villa for the last 3 nights of my award stay for $75 a night (discount for Diamonds, I was told) or I could pay $425 a night for a Deluxe Water Villa for the remaining 6 nights. Went with the $75 a night option and to my surprise, was upgraded to the Deluxe Water Villa for the entirety of the last 6 nights. I was certainly ecstatic about this and overall had a great stay. Service was excellent and food was expensive but good quality. Diamond/Happy Hour perks were great and you could definitely get by with Happy Hour and light snack for dinner if that's your prerogative. I highly recommend the fondue night as it was a great experience and fairly cheap compared to other meal options ($82++).

We have 15 nights in January and losing elite diamond benefits would be horrible. I wouldn't have booked without it. However, likely this is just a tempest in a teapot. Likely they aren't leaving Hilton.

Yes, that can't be ignored either. Definitely a great value for golds and diamonds.

I sure hope they aren't. I really do stand by my original reaction: If the Hilton benefits disappear, I would reconsider for somewhere with (1) more colorful coral, (2) easier flight routings and schedules, and (3) a less-onerous political/religious regime.

And us for 30 nights next year. Let's hope the owners have at least half a brain, LOL.

I have to wonder what percentage of guests are paying cash versus doing award stays at any given time? I have to imagine that the back end payments to Rangali are adding to their bottom line, and one of the primary draws of the property is its aspirational award value for those collecting Honors points.

At any one time around 20-30 villas are occupied by Golds and Diamonds on points.

what kind of presents for staff do you bring? I will go there again in 4 weeks, and texted with some of the staff. they said sometimes they ll get chocolate despite the warm weather. But they like chocolates. any other ideas?
I will also bring some feather shuttles and leave there. Last time I was allowed to join their Afterwork badminton trainings.

I know this has probably been asked a bunch of times on this thread, but searching through 187 pages of info has not gotten me far. What are the best months to visit the Conrad? I've googled online and it seems Nov-Feb seems popular for all of the Madilves, but I've also read that it differs depending if the resort is more north or more south.

The wiki lists this as far as "seasons" go:

In chronological order (1 Jan - 31 Dec):
• Festive Season: 1 Jan - 8 Jan
• High Season: 9 Jan - 11 May
• Low Season: 12 May - 31 July
• Shoulder Season: 1 Aug - 30 Sep
• High Season: 1 Oct - 25 Dec
• Festive Season: 26 Dec - 31 Dec

I have my eye set on Oct-Dec 2019 but am wondering if October is risking it with the rain. I know it's hit or miss, but I'd like to optimize my chances if possible. Ideally I'd book October as it works better with my schedule, but can potentially be flexible and book in December if the weather will have better odds of being nicer.

Looks like Saii Lagoon Maldives is available to book via points. Some nights are fairly cheap showing 64K with a $135 boat ride for Adults and $67 for Kids.

Nothing sounds worse than staying at a resort that was designed for shopping and shares facilities with the Hard Rock.

Are you saying that you could stay at the Hilton, but go visit and eat at Hard Rock?

An example of what we typically bring:

From left to right, top to bottom; tea for staff at the spa + salted walnuts (unique in flavour and for some staff we know and have corresponded with); super hot yellow chili* + food documentaries**; more tea and various gifts for a friend and snr mgmt*** + music for the resident IT guy and p/t DJ**** and spa mgmt***

* chili is the perfect gift for the chefs as they are mostly Sri Lankan and Maldivian and they love really spicy stuff. I chose local chili that is unique in flavour and you can't buy it outside of China (where I currently live)
** Jiro Dreams of Sushi & Noma at Boiling Point
*** just to be perfectly clear, these are never intended as 'bribes' to get better treatment or whatever. They are something to say thank you for all the hard work they (and the chefs and everyone else for that matter) do
**** we have similar music tastes

The answer isn't difficult, you just need to look at the weather data for the region Rangali is in (which I'm pretty sure is mentioned in weather-related posts linked in the wiki).
