One surprising thing about this turn of events is that they were still pushing for the CKG flights a few hours before announcing the cancellation.

Were they taken by surprise that pilots needed training? Or did they suddenly decide to train a lot more pilots than originally planned? Or perhaps they realised they would be vulnerable to the same overtime blockade strategy as the Norra crews are using?

Killing one destination for 4 months plus the 2 month lease of Hifly plus the reductions on NGO. That is a pretty massive change in operations.

That can't be the case.
AY used UX 2008/2009 and 5K 2011/2012 on flights to Phuket and those flights used Russian airspace like AY.

Surely it beats even the HKG flights' statistics!

Were lucky with my NGO flights this month - incredibly 600€+ or so cheaper than NRT!

Yeah, but I had a wrong year. NGO cancellations are planned.

and a cancellation of some of Finnair's flights to Nagoya in the spring of 2017.

Last time China destination (CAN in 2008) was cancelled, AY had a great offer, who recalls this:

Now we want the same and double points!

Why is AY using the 2000 series? They haven't used the series since they converted "leisure" flights to regular scheduled flights some years ago.

A bit steep yes. I'm sure prices will come down but if they don't it's a good use for some points.
