Thanks for the quick reply and heads up So going with the AY number all the way. The seat isn't so big deal on the Oul - Hel flight so don't want to take any risks.

Yes, know about the award points and they are just a little extra goodie for the segment hunting. Asked today from the Finnair plus agent, that are the points per segment or per booked ticket. The agent had to ask other guys about it and told me, that they are awarded per reservation, but still, better than the usual 250 points per way

Does AY (specifically the plus program) typically have an objection with throwaway ticketing? Thinking of doing BUD-HEL-ICN-HEL-BUD and throwing away the last HEL-BUD sector (will obviously fly the initial BUD-HEL). Any problems for points accrual?

Short - no issues, been there, done that. Make sure, it's in the future (multicity booking) so no luggage issues

Long - don't throw away, use it as a positioning flight for the next longhaul. I do THIS all the time.

Is there a way to know ticket category (Basic, Value etc.) from tickets bought with company agreement. I told them to book Value but apparently company price was 20€ cheaper (never been the case before for me..)

Fare basis is NUPFR4FI and terms

MIN.STAY: 1 DAY
CANCELLATION POLICY: FEE 50% BEFORE DEPARTURE
AFTER THAT NO REFUND
CHANGES: BEFORE DEPARTURE CHANGE FEE EUR 50
AFTER DEPARTURE CHANGE FEE EUR 50
SAME AIRLINE, ROUTE AND RESERVATION CLASS

Usually they don't have any category (fare family). So they credit points according to booking class.

Hi Guys,

Complete AY newbie here, I am considering booking some AY flights (some operated by Norra). One specific question is regarding baggage allowance.

I want to book TLL-HEL-TLL and the cheapest fare is around 110 EUR for a "light" fare. This fare comes with 0 baggage. As a OWS (through BA Silver) will I get 1 free baggage on top (taking the total to 1 x 23KG)? I cannot see any restrictions similar to that of BA's HBO fare where OWS benefits do not apply.

This flight is operated by Norra so I am not sure if this impacts privileges.

EDIT: Just checked https://www.finnair.com/cz/gb/inform...age-calculator and can see that the OWS AY equivalent level does have free baggage even on light fares - I just want to make sure that is the case for BA Silvers.

/AE

I can confirm this is the case. On Norra-operated flights AY's policies apply.

Yes, you got it right.
The baggage allowance for OWS is always the 'basic allowance' according to the ticket type + 1.
If the ticket type is light as in your case => baggage allowance = 0 plus 1 as OWS benefit.
All oneworld OWS/OWE benefits are fully applicable to all Norra operated flights.

Please be reminded, that some preflight customer support emails from AY you will be receiving will not always show the correct baggage allowance, but the OLCI will know your allowance - providing you have entered your FFP number on the PNR.

Thank you so much lkrt and ff_flyer for the quick reply!

Glad that is the case - looks like I am all set ^

Lets say I make Plat just a couple of days before the end of my tracking period, will I get upgrade vouchers for qualifying that will then expire straight away as my tracking period ends? Of course I will get new ones beginning of the next tracking period but it will be quite a hurry to use the first ones especially if I don't have any longhaul flights planned. Anyone have experience with qualifying just before the end of the tracking period?
This was discussed in much detail in this thread, not much to add except that I made my segment Plat with two weeks to the cutoff and have received all the vouchers for my current period (with expiration in two weeks) and gold card giveaway, so all is well! 76 segments done, phew.. OH-LGG, I will be cheering for you!

Those 36 bus gates suck so deep. Soon HEL will be down from famous connection point to infamously sick to transfer. It only takes some first-times to stand in winter freeze out there waiting to board, and reputation spreads.

Oh well, it is not so bad as Tegel after all...

I haven't used codeshare tickets for a while. Will I have problems selecting seats in advance if I book an AY flight number on CX, QF, or JL? Any other major reasons to not do it this way?
