New experience today when flying over from LHR to SFO with BA (upper deck). BA purser came to me greeting and stating “Good lord, sir, you seem to fly more than we do” referring to the cabin personnel. Do they see Lumo somehow? The plane must have been full of OWEs so that alone won’t do the trick. Also, the tone was way over and beyond the normal BA inclusiveness so not just a random comment IMHO. The plane was full of Trailblazers heading to SFO...

Highly doubt it. Never heard about another carrier differentiating airline-specific tier names.

There are examples of it happening. BA will recognize AA Concierge Key members as Gold Guest List members, and vice versa. So if BA and AY made a similar agreement, it could be possible.

I thought that AA and BA reciprocate each other's "invitation only" tier benefits. Those are above the alliance wide tiers. Was I wrong on that?

MH does. No special recognition, though.

Yup it seems. My MH boarding pass says AY Lumo Emerald but no recognition though.

My BA boarding passes don't specify tier in AY+ "lingo", only AY/Sapphire. But maybe that is different for Lumo?

There was an announcement from Oneworld a bit back, that they would integrate systems further. Maybe the ability to see FFP levels above the standard Emerald is part of that?

I can see this needing some explanation and showing of policies when in the USA though, trying to use the priority check-in and explaining to the woman guarding the entry to the queue that I have an "emerald" card didn't really get me anywhere and it was lucky there was a post with the qualifications for priority check-in nearby and the blue and green circles since I could point to the green circle.
Things could be worse though, in the USA the AA status card holders aren't allowed into their own lounges but a status card from outside the USA will get you in (eg on a domestic flight) which is really nice (although considering the qualify of most of the admirals clubs it's not an amazing benefit).

Maybe JAL cards are better known, I have never had any issues with using the AA flagship check in for domestic only Y itineraries. AA Emerald would not be able to do that, only international or Concierge Key. So nice being escorted around the TSA lines.

Yep, have been aware about AA and BA just like UA and LH did with HON and GS.

However, haven't heard about AY Plat and Lumo being differentiated (or any agreement signed). Seems however that MH has the correct names but no special recognition.

Had no issue with accessing Flagship First Check-in neither at JFK, nor at MIA. Just showed my AY+ Plat card (first time ever to have a travel related use of the actual physical card 👍🏻 ) and they welcomed me in with a big smile.

I have never used the physical card for the flagship services, electronic boarding pass (or a physical boarding pass from the machine) has always worked without any problems at JFK, ORD and LAX. Although, compared to JFK the added value of flagship check-in is quite limited at ORD or LAX if not checking in luggage (actually it just generates an unnecessary de-tour, especially without access to TSA-pre).

The AA Priority security can be long at times so I've found the ORD FL Check in useful for that.

LAX has a curbside entrance and AFAIK they also escort you to the front of the line. Did you not get escorted or something?

At LAX, I was not escorted when I tried the Flagship check-in (first went out, then through the curbside entrance, then pass the TSA/pre section and finally found the priority security). During my other visits, I have used the normal priority security (at the end of the check-in hall) and that has worked just fine. Last time I saw someone get escorted to the priority line after me, but it had no effect as there was no line.

At ORD, I have also not been escorted, and it was a confusing path, trying to cross the TSA/pre section to reach the priority security. I always get the impression that the Flaship Check-In is primarily designed for those with access to TSA/pre, which of course is a large proportion of their clientele.
