Safe - Immediate turnaround is easy, i.e. according to experience it is possible to reach departure gate quickly and without extra security check when doing same plane turnaround.
Intermediate - Immediate turnaround is doable, but requires e.g. extra security check.
Risky - Immediate turnaround not recommended. (See notes.)

TO KEEP THE WIKI AS COHERENT AS POSSIBLE, PLEASE USE "SAFE", "INTERMEDIATE" OR "RISKY" APPROPRIATELY! (I.e. no "Safe" for stations that require any kind of security or transfer check, not to mention going landside, etc.)

Immediate turnaround information for European AY destinations:

ACE: ?
AGP: Safe (Arrivals pour directly to departure gate.) Details here from August 2022

AMS: Safe (Arrivals pour directly to departure gate.)
ARN: Safe / Intermediate (Arrivals pour directly to departure gate, except gate 62 arrival pours to baggage claim. ATR flights may be riskier if one ends up with a bus gate.)

GDN: Risky (Providing it is ATR by Norra, apron position, walking / bussing to the arrivals, queue security (can be very long), sprint upstairs to the gate.)

KTT: ?
KUO: Intermediate (Exit via baggage claim and reclear security, but should be doable if you exit among the first from the inbound flight.)
LHR: Intermediate (Need to go via Flight Connections to reclear security, which may take time depending on the time of the day.)

NAP: ?
NCE: ?
OSL: Safe / Intermediate (D gates pours directly to departures. E gates also pours to departure gate, follow transit arrow, automatic gate door will open during "normal" hours. VBY: ?
VCE: ?
VIE: Safe (Arrivals pour directly to departure gate.)
VNO: Risky. (Departing pax board bus when arriving pax still deplaning. Connection corridor available but not sure how straightforward it is).
VRN: ?
WAW: Safe (Arrivals pour to departure gate.)
ZRH: Safe (When exiting the bridge, you are under the gates and there are inclined speedwalks that bring back to the gates upstairs.)

Immediate turnaround information for selected longhaul AY destinations:

DEL: Intermediate (There's plenty of time for the obligatory visit to the transit desk and security. However, you'll need a self-printed visa confirmation to show the gate agent at HEL.)
DOH: ?
DXB: Intermediate (Follow "connections" to security downstairs and after that go to transfer desk if needed.)
JFK: Intermediate (Generous time with the new schedule, but you'll need to clear US immigration so ESTA or visa is needed.)
NRT: Intermediate (OLCI and mobile BP works, no need to go landside. There's transfer security, though.)

Ah yes, true, on my flights most of the elites in Y were sitting in the front row of the Y cabin. Status recognition seemed to work well, the purser came and introduced herself to the elites and chatted a bit and they also distributed noise-cancelling headphones.

I have no idea what could be wrong. I know for a fact that I've done the seat selection online on CX's website but things might have changed after August. Have you put in the e-ticket number as well as the PNR? MMB only unlocks certain settings after putting in the e-ticket number (due to security reasons).

Well, seems it was a user error. I didn't understand that you have to press "Update" BEFORE doing any changes, and also after that, how stupid of me. It opened the seat map, and allowed also booking of extra legroom seats. Thanks for help

The flights seem to be not very busy, so no hope of op-up, I'm afraid...

CX has an excellent sales office in Copenhagen, call or email them

Was there anyway for you to check the booking class before actually paying for it? Don't want to end up with a reservation that is booked into some 50% earning class...

If comparing the prices with Momondo you can see the booking class from the URL it sends to the OTA you've selected, i.e. when it opens new window, before loading the contents flight, date and boking class information is inside that URL. Just needs some (minor) detective work to find it there.

Some OTAs (for instance cheapOair) show the fare rules and you can find the fare basis code somewhere there, whereas Expedia shows the booking class clearly in reservation page (GOOD!).

With ebookers or some other OTAs there is no way knowing which booking class it ends up (bad customer service!). Of course you can compare the price to the one you've found with Matrix and if they are the same, prob the booking class is the same as well. But in this case you actually never can be 100% sure of that.

So at the end I got myself a ticket to SIN for Easter with CX for 497€. All flights are in booking class L, should earn 28066 AY+ points, so not too bad (HEL-LHR-HKG-SIN-HKG-LHR-HEL)

And CX was kind enough to allow OWS travellers to pick seats w/ extra legroom for free which should make the long Y flights somewhat more bearable.

Nice! CX is the odd one in the Oneworld and not so good for me as an AA flyer, as most of CX fares earn 0% for me, including that L class. So being HEL-based, that kind of takes out all CX-based mileage runs away from me

I'm very much tempted by doing a new mileage run / combined holiday trip to somewhere in the Asia again with CX in February. Any suggestions? Thinking of KUL as well as TPE but is there another destination you'd suggest? (must be visa-free for a Finnish citizen so no China)

Remember China's 72-hour visa-free transit rule.

That would be tricky to leverage on a CX MR as HK->CN->HK does not qualify... You would have to do an open-jaw with non-OW to fill the hole, probably through MFM, TPE or TSA.

Also remember that 24h rule for cities not included in the 72h list. Although they wouldn't be OW, might come in handy anyway. Star Alliance has the excellent TIMATIC web thing for checking which visa options are available.

How does that work with CX? They don't code-share on long-haul AY flights, so far as I can tell, you would have to route: HEL-{Europe}-HKG-{China} and back. That is not within the 72 hours visa-free transit.

You could instead do: HEL-{Europe}-HKG-{China} / {China}-MFM / HKG-{Europe}-HEL. But then you need some other airline to get you out of the mainland.
