Notably, the new F cabin is fully enclosed from floor to ceiling, has a reduction from 8 seats to 6 total, had virtual windows for the center cabins and features video-based room service ordering.

Hi SFO777!
I booked JFK-DXB-BOS (better positioning through BOS on the return). Skywards would waitlist ONE flight only so I had to choose carefully based on the various loads listed on EF. A couple other reps said waitlists didn't exist. One rep said you could choose two flights, but I wasn't ready to pull the trigger at that point. So YMMV based on who you are talking to. I waitlisted EK201 and received the following e-mail:
Thanks for your booking – your flights are confirmed and your itinerary is below.
So yes, this worked out perfectly. The flight went out 5/6 too..

How does one get on the waitlist? I search for this in the forum, but can't find an answer.
I spoke with 11 different agents, they're all telling me that waitlisting isn't possible for new reservations. Then I ask, if I make an award booking and want to waitlist on the other flight on the same day, they say it's also not possible.
Is there a secret?

I'm not sure what you mean by "new reservations." Is your award ticketed?
My award was ticketed and I wait listed on a DIFFERENT day. I don't know if that makes the difference.
Also, I have no status with EK.
As I indicated upthread, it appears many agents don't know how to do it, but some do.

I'm a solo traveller 90% of the time, and if the bar was more convivial, with stools at the bar a la Virgin, encouraging random passenger interaction, I'd be more likely to use it. As it stands, it's no great loss, although on ultra long haul it's a pleasant change of scenery.
While there's certainly more personal space, having tried it a couple of times now I'm in no particular hurry to make a special effort to travel on the New First Class again. Seats 1E and 1K suffer from galley noise, and I found my limbs had a tendency to fall out of the side of the new seat.
Irrespective of my comments, of course, you do have to try it for yourself!

The slide out table in particular seems a bit rickety.

For those that have been on this thread for a while, I finally booked my JFK-DXB (EK202) for mid June. The booking is in business class, I am hoping that my auto upgrade clears.... fingers crossed!

Good luck with the upgrade. I am also hoping to experience EK for the first time next spring.... so I look forward to your perception of F on EK
