I'm not sure it's an upgrade, although it's really all good. The 2005 Palmer is a kick-a$$ wine from an amazing vintage; 2004 is a very different animal, Mouton or not, much more classic and subdued. The Mouton is more ready to drink (although it could also benefit from more time in bottle) while the Palmer needs a lot more time in bottle.

Did 2.5 btls of the Palmer a few days ago, was excellent.
They opened a new bottle of it in the lounge (A gates) whilst I was was waiting.
I slept the second flight..🤣
My return flight now showing Mouton 04 which Ive had a few times now with Emirates.
What a struggle!!

The 2004 Mouton was superb on the LHR DXB leg yesterday. Shame that the other routes dont all have the same vintages But of course there are not enough bottles! Nevertheless some real treats on the wine lists now.

You might have had an off bottle (and/or one that was open for a very long time -- way beyond the flight). 2005 Palmer is, as crazy as it might sound to non-Bordeaux aficionados, in its infancy. I would probably not touch it for at least another decade (or two). It is an amazing wine from an historic vintage. The fact that EK was/is serving it is amazing, although I wish they kept it in the cellar for many more years before releasing it.

While my opinion ultimately matters the most to me, I also like to see what professional tasters who I follow think of wines that I am interested in (and how their opinions change with time). In the case of the 2005 Palmer, they view it as being in its infancy and having decades ahead of it.

Indeed, it is subjective and that is one of the beauties of wine.

You "disagree" that my opinion is the most important to me or that wine professionals that I follow say that?! Neither makes sense. To be clear, I was not questioning that your "wine relationship manager" said what he said to you or that that is his or your opinion. It's all subjective. If what you're trying to say is that your / your wine professional's opinion is different than my opinion / my wine professionals' opinions, then OK, sure.

Nothing that interesting in the C lounge this morning. B had the RWT behind the bar, but it was a little early in the morning for me.
Onboard DXB-GVA seems to match the menu, no P2 or interesting reds but I will make do with the 2015 Dom.
