Looking at your locations I wonder if any other airline can match EKs network connecting them? At the moment it seems as though pretty much every airline is looking for ways to maximise revenues at the expense of passenger experience (the BA forum is probably the best place to learn about this!).
To be honest I doubt that experience elsewhere will be much better - and EK remain reasonably competetive price wise. (QR will give EK a run for their money but don't compete on reach or frequency at the moment in my opinion)

I wonder what happens if your flight is delayed while in the lounge?

Whilst there may not be much to set apart EK at the Plat level, EY Still has a long way to go to come up with as good a product as EK. Sorry, I wasn't making sense!

That email was not sent exclusively to Gold members. Even humble Blues like myself, aka Untouchables, received the same invitation

Well...been ex DXB five times now I think since it was introduced and I haven't noticed it being any busier. Certainly not in F lounges. Only checked on J lounge once.

EK could actually save money by allowing us to preorder our meals , think about it ! You check the menu tick the boxes and boom you have the meal you want , Tim saves lot of money by not having to load the plane with loads of meals that are going to be thrown away and you get the meal you want.

EK could also save by reusing/recycling the face cloths in F/J class and not just throwing them away

Wouldn't work. Many people order special meals and then take the food from the regular menu if it seems nicer .If they are asked by crew about why they are not eating the special meal they act dumb/pretend they didn't order it/Its an IT mistake etc etc.

Will work in a scenario where one pays for a meal in advance (Like in a low cost carrier) but not on EK (where its all inclusive)

Take Manchester - fully loaded 380, half of Y gold - not much room in the lounge.

thankfully I think it's priced so people won't bother - still a ridiculous decision.

The only redeemable feature of GLA is the EK Lounge and that's largely because only a few get in.
