That surprises me. Does that route have that much traffic?

857 is the 16:00 departure from DXB, and 858 is the 18:25 departure from KWI.

Seems to me like this is primarily for pilot training.

Well possible; but for me it has to do with a better utilization of the aircrafts.
For training, the 3 daily flight to JED are good suitable.

The EK 374/5 from BKK, with A380 starting next month, arrives at 13:00 in DXB; so the airplane can do this short flight to KWI before it would be sent on a long flight again early morning.

I think they have stop in Europe or someplace else. If they have a fifth freedom traffic rights. They will get traffic rights. They will approved it.

Why would you think that? EK has enough deliveries between now and calendar year end (minus retirements) to add a number of new destinations/frequencies on top of the ones already been announced. 14 A380s (10 new plus 4 off wing fix) plus 8 777-300ERs, minus 6 A330/A340 retirements is the plan between now and then. That comes to a net 16 frame fleet increase by year end.

Because there's no question EK will start MIA with a 77L. But can it really live up to the hype? Rumors started back in 2007. It's 2014. I'd like to see it happen, but I doubt it. For this year at least. Or until a 77L route gets upgraded
