How do you pre-select an exit row? I thought that was another no-no.

So did I before I called and asked. They wouldn't let me from JFK - DXB but they had no trouble doing it for me from DXB - ACC.

Mostly true except for BOM, where F still has reasonable demand. I've 0 fare paying pax in F at BLR quite often with the crew running a J service in F with status pax being moved to the F cabin to make way for y-j op-ups.

That's true -- my experience with this flight is usually that J is also often full, and as a baseline gold on a Saver fare I didn't necessarily fit the profile based on whatever criteria seem to drive the process. Was my first op-up to F, though, so hardly complaining....

Otterbob, what are the services on this flight (DXB-HYD) in J and F?

This flight was on a 77W -- F had the larger clamshell-style seats, widescreen IFE, and a somewhat larger mini-bar (comparing to the A380 in J here). A purser plus 2 FAs for 8 seats in F made for unusually attentive service -- but otherwise I don't think the offering was all that distinct from what you'd encounter in J.

This being relatively short-haul, the seats in J are the older style typically, with the fold-out video screens in some cases. I'm certain I've flown this sector in J aboard an Airbus before as well.

I don't understand this configuration. I thought the 77W 3-Class Fleet was all now suites in F.

If it's Skycruisers it would be a 773 or 772 and there would be 12 of them.

Or have I picked up something wrong?

No, you're right -- 2-2-2 configuration, so 12 seats, and therefore must've been a 772. Not sure how I misremembered that, but this is what happens posting weeks after the fact.
