Do any insiders/gurus know why the new 777-300ERs don't fly often to Europe? I'm wondering why A6-EPV onwards rarely fly those routes over the American/GIG and shorter ME routes. Really hoping to try the new J this year.

I'm no insider/guru but I figure that since these are ULR frames they would be best used on the US/South America 777 routes and nearby destinations between ULR rotations. The ULR frames are definitely starting to feel outdated when you consider that in BOS we sometimes get non -ICE digital widescreen frames. For the US, it's definitely a welcome change especially when you consider that IAH and DFW were downgraded from the 380, so the difference to a J passenger is pretty big on a 12-16 hour flight.

Shorter ME routes may be explained by crew training on the new config, America (North and South) can be explained by potentially better fuel economy on ULH

The age of the airframe is only one factor. I assume that those making the decision would look at the maintenance schedule of each aircraft. This depends on other factors, such as number of takeoffs/landings and hours flown.

Looks like it's BOS, SEA, and MCO as far as 77Ws go (ECA-EGH). BOS-DXB on June 20th for me was ECO and the return on July 9th was ECM. Meanwhile the DXB-BLR and BLR-DXB sectors were EPU and EGR with newer IFEs.
The 1st gen IDW touchscreens don't work properly either. You touch it in one place and the mouse moves about 1.5 inches to the right of where you tapped.
