Does anyone know if the first A380 with the new bar design will be a retrofit or new frame?

Any idea when the 777-300 (not ERs) are leaving the fleet? Have been on the DEL night flight a couple of times this year and ended up with those old screens not working both times.

Only 4 frames (out of 12) are still in service....I believe EK will retire them till years end.

Do any insiders/gurus know why the new 777-300ERs don't fly often to Europe? I'm wondering why A6-EPV onwards rarely fly those routes over the American/GIG and shorter ME routes. Really hoping to try the new J this year.

I'm no insider/guru but I figure that since these are ULR frames they would be best used on the US/South America 777 routes and nearby destinations between ULR rotations. The ULR frames are definitely starting to feel outdated when you consider that in BOS we sometimes get non -ICE digital widescreen frames. For the US, it's definitely a welcome change especially when you consider that IAH and DFW were downgraded from the 380, so the difference to a J passenger is pretty big on a 12-16 hour flight.

Shorter ME routes may be explained by crew training on the new config, America (North and South) can be explained by potentially better fuel economy on ULH

The age of the airframe is only one factor. I assume that those making the decision would look at the maintenance schedule of each aircraft. This depends on other factors, such as number of takeoffs/landings and hours flown.

Perhaps it is just a temporary decision.....I believe these frames will be back to service as soon as the Catar crisis is over and the second flight to SEA and BOS are back in the schedule.

All increasing (by a very small amount) the chances of an upgraded J this year to GLA ;-)

B777/300 A6-EMS was delivered to russian carrier Vim Airlines.

This is the second frame that goes to this company, the first being B777/300ER A6-EBD.

I also really don't know why BOS doesn't get newer frames given that routes such as IAH, DFW, and ORD are getting the newest 10 frames. It's obviously not a LH vs ULH problem.

Looks like it's BOS, SEA, and MCO as far as 77Ws go (ECA-EGH). BOS-DXB on June 20th for me was ECO and the return on July 9th was ECM. Meanwhile the DXB-BLR and BLR-DXB sectors were EPU and EGR with newer IFEs.

The 1st gen IDW touchscreens don't work properly either. You touch it in one place and the mouse moves about 1.5 inches to the right of where you tapped.

This doesn't explain why BOS/SEA/MCO are getting older (ECA-EGH) frames.

Stored B777/300 A6-EMM was returned to the leasing company, and she left DXB bound for Teruel / Spain for further storage.
