Fleet retirement??

Hoping someone can shed some light here. Was expecting at least a few more airframes to be retired this year (the runway works period seemed as good a window as any, especially for a couple of 345s slated for the Arabian gulf?). Any insights on what we might expect, either over this calendar year or even the financial year?

I is flying EK343 KL to Dubai on the 8th October on a scheduled 777-300 and my business class seat is showing as a deep reclining sleeperette!

What the hell are those?

Am I looking at a 1970's wide seat like in the movie airplane?

Do Emirates still have deep reclining sleeperettes in there 777-300 fleet?

What exactly does a deep reclining sleeperette actually look like?

Nope, not on the 300s.

I just got back from Dubai and the internet seems to have conflicting stories about A6-EMD 777-200. Some sites say that it is still in service but some say it is in storage. There was an all white 777 parked by the hangars and I wondered if this may have been EMD awaiting a new lessor?

I have heard the same; but other sources say EMD is going through a Heavy Maintenance Visit which includes a new painting.....

On the other hand, EMD is the oldest EK airplane, almost 19 years old; does a HMV makes sense??

EMD is reported as going stateside for scrapping, I'm even more convinced that the white one outside the hangars at DXB was this.

theeksource (http://www.theeksource.com/) also mentioned on 5/11:

Emirates B777-200 A6-EMD Makes Final Flight.
Emirates Boeing 777-21H A6-EMD positioned Boston – Tupelo as EK3147 early this morning for part out and scrap.

There is still another white 777-200 parked outside the EK hangars at DXB. So must be a further 777-200 to leave the fleet.

Not even on the ERs? I'm planning CTP to LGW via DXB, and it shows as a 777-300 ER which the emirates website describes as having "deeply reclining" seats, and seatguru describes as "angled lie flat".

I'll be rather disappointed if they're sleeperettes.

The sleeperettes were only ever on Airbus planes and are still there on several.

Deepy reclining in J were found on various B777, but all -300 models now offer the angled lie flat seats. I think there's only one or two 2 class -200s still with deeply reclining seats.

How many 777's have the new business class (that is similar to or identical to the A380)? I saw one on Ultimate Airport Dubai and had no idea that some were even outfitted.
