The best Roast Beef sub on the planet in 1972 was from Mr. M's sandwich shop in Hollywood Fl.

I ate those things for years then moved to Hawaii. Used to come back and visit friends but Moe Weiner ( Mr M ) died and so did his sandwich.

It is the benchmark that I still judge RB subs by.

Love that one also. Every time I go, I also bring back a jar of their olive salad to make my own at home.

My favorite sandwich is a Monte Cristo with a side of raspberry or strawberry jam for dipping. Thankfully they're very hard to find or I'd weigh 200 lbs

Had a great one at Kinders BBQ in Stockton, CA:

- Hot links sausage
- Sweet, spicy BBQ sauce
- Lettuce
- A little bit of mayo
- Excellent sourdough bread.

Wish I had one right now.

The Town Hall Deli Sloppy Joe...the Original. It's the best. http://www.seriouseats.com/2007/08/s...py-joe-to.html 3 can share their sloppy joe.

For a "dinner" sandwich, it's a pastrami on rye from Katz's Deli.

The April edition of Saveur magazine is titled "The Sandwich Issue". It just came out (print) and on line coming in a few days. I'm telling you, I haven't drooled over photos of sandwiches as much as I did today when I reviewed this issue. There are easily 20 sandwich recipes; dare I say there's something for everyone in it.

I found one Saturday in Knoxville at the Parkside Grill. Fortunately, it was a special on the brunch menu and likely won't be there when I return. Like you, I'd weigh a lot more with regular access to them. However, I did feel kinda gross after consuming all that grease so maybe I could resist.

Mine is cold sirloin, extra gorgonzola, red onions and lettuce with ranch dressing on wheat. My second favorite would be ham, cheddar cheese, onions, and ranch on white.
