I'll add Pho Saigon in Dublin, CA.

Not the best, but decent enough and most everything else in that area is a chain something or another.

Thumbs up San Diego- Tak Ky Mi Gia

Near the Lucky Seafood Grocery on Mira Mesa Blvd at Black Mountain Rd near I-15 Freeway San Diego.
Many pictures of some of their dishes are on the front windows.

The best broth, that I have had at any Pho shop. Consistently excellent every time.
My Favorite is the Shrimp Pork Black Mushroom filled Dumplings PHO without the rice noodles by request.

Very reasonable prices and many other excellent dishes.
Family cooks!

Tan Ky Mi Gia is a Chinese noodle house. The name is literally translated as Tan Ky "Egg Noodle House". Your fav dish is a traditional Chinese egg noodle soup, it's more like ramen than pho, while good and different, it is not PHO by any stretch. Thanks for the reco though.

R&R: What you have is dumpling noodle soup, a Chinese(Cantonese) specialty. (水餃湯麵) A Mi Gia 麵家 will not take it likely that their product is call Pho.

All the Chinese and Vietnamese feel insulted.

The noodle in Pho are rice base. The stock is done differently. There is no dumpling in Pho.

My favorite Katy, TX Pho joint offers a variety of combinations of meats in its basic Pho. I recall sliced beef, little meat balls and earthiest of all, beef tendon, or combinations thereof). In my mind, Pho needs tendon.

There's also a "non-Pho" I find appealing a clear broth with shrimp and rice noodles, more than a hint of fish sauce, plus the various conventional garnishes.

can a Vietnamese "expert" provide a name for the dish?

In HCMC Pho cart will have different noodles, different beef, shrimps and different broth. You just point to the ones you want. You can even mix the broths into your order.

Smile Tak ky mia gia! San Diego.

Correction - it is NOT in the Lucky Grocery.
It is a few stores East in the Northeast corner of the small mall on Mira Mesa Blvd and Black Mountain Road.

I was informed by the owners and cook, that the cuisine is from the Northern part of Vietnam near the Chinese border, which gives it a slight variation (of better flavors in my opinion) to the other Pho shops.
There is enough similarity to all the other PHO shops along Mira Mesa Blvd, that I have eaten at to be called PHO! Except they do it best ! ^

Tail end of our family's 44 night summer vacation.. Not one bowl of Pho the entire trip. I'm itching to have sauteed pho with rare beef and tendons at Pho da Bo in Calgary.. Btw, the sauteed pho is killer and should be added to Wikipedia.

My new Lease and Special Projects Analyst employee is pho expert. When he tasted the Pho Da Bo, 17th Avenue SE, Calgary, he said it was best and spiciest pho he has ever tasted. His face was breaking out in sweat. Serious deep soup base..

If you're in Los Angeles, it's well worth the drive to the San Gabriel Valley for what is hands down the best pho I've had.

Flying out of SJC tomorrow, so spending the night near the airport. I wandered in to "Pho Viet" at 1751 N 1st Street. Nice broth, quality meat, an service was quick. The best part is their hours, weekdays till midnight, weekends till 2am. Typical noodle house tables and decor, but well lit.

I normally only have Bun Bo Hue (spicy noodle) at Mangosteen in SF, but decided to try their Pho this weekend and was pleasantly surprised. They make an outstanding bowl of Bun Bo Hue, I think it's the best the the Bay Area.
