The braiding effect is done by using the dough slicer and putting indentations in the edges. This also helps prevent the crust from bubbling. My local pizza place doesn't care about bubbles. When I used to work as a driver in a pizza place back in the late 80's, they check the oven every few minutes, and if they saw a bubble forming, they would "pop" it and add a little more cheese over the area.
I like the bubbles and would never pop them.

You are absolutely correct - green pepper. I usually order pepperoni, but this place makes their own Italian sausage, so I ordered that. I said pepperoni out of force of habit. . Original post corrected.

Are the white cubes ketupat? I miss satays....and chuan'r.... as I am around elderly and immuno-compromised people regularly, I don't eat out much.... just take-out or have to make it myself....

BTW, that thai salad looks like a jelly fish salad.

I need to get some chuan'r this week.... thanks guys...

Grilled some dry aged ribeyes picked up from Harris' Steakhouse. This is the steakhouse, along with the House of Prime Rib, that most locals here frequent; however, in my view, it's still not in the same class as the finest dry aged ribeyes from Chicago.

I still havent been to Harris - always too many choices for steakhouses in Sf. Twisted abundance of choice even as vegan / vegetarian choices increased big time.

Really glad to see them begin to reopen. My last trip to Singapore, I remember having some really good char siu at one of Hawker Centers; it was so good, I had two servings and just skipped the rice.

Do you happen to remember the name of the stall or the hawker center? Right now I don't think it would hurt to promote some of the better ones. Most of the stalls I've had there weren't great. I'm sure there are good ones, but most use too lean a cut to make a good piece of char siu.

Unfortunately, off the top of my head, I don't. A friend brought me there, but, if I recall, it was about 2 miles from Orchard Rd within a roofed complex with plenty of Hawker stands of many different varieties. I know, those instructions aren't great, but it's the best I can do right now. I think the stand was very famous, and it was incredibly good! It was perfect with the right amount of fat with many there just for the char siu.
